Signal by golftragic

Signal

Nuwara Eliya, in the mountains of central Sri Lanka, heart of the tea-growing country. We travelled from Kandy to here by train. The train was OK, but I don't think the tracks have had any work done since the British left. Rough beyond belief.
FAVtastic capture Marnie :)

Some of those carriages have certainly seen better days. Sri Lanka looks like an interesting place to visit :)

The trains look a bit rough too- but oh! Lots of rust to photograph! Good shot.

@gilbertwood Thanks Denise, I haven't seen a signal set-up like that for ages.

@olivetreeann Yeah, I suspect these carriages were on the way out. But even the first-class in the 'good' trains is pretty ordinary by our standards. The tracks are terrible! But using those standards is unfair to a country that's still developing. Sri Lanka is lovely.

These carriages look ancient.. when I was there nothing much was maintained. Only the buddas!

@777margo The station was pretty well maintained, the train was OK, but as you say, ancient. But then we still have some very old stuff running on the rural lines down here.
