Nanu-Oya station by golftragic

Nanu-Oya station

Where we got off the train for Nuwara Eliya, heart of the tea-growing hill country.
I really like you composition here- the strong anchor of the station to the right balances out all the lines of tracks on the left. Great shot!

Nothing very modern!!

@olivetreeann Thank you very much Ann, glad you liked this shot. I do too.

@777margo No, but all functional.

Great lines! I like it in B&W!

Not sure what you could do differently but the station side of the photo pops leaving the tea country kind of blah. I might have liked this better in color

@kwind thanks

@jgpittenger OK, that's very helpful thanks Jane. I'll have a crack at doing it in colour and then we can see if that works better.

I really like all the repetitive lines in this. A lot.

So much to look at in this shot and black and white really makes the scene more detailed somehow. Would I have noticed the two people walking across the tracks if this had been in colour, not so sure. I guess they aren't into health and safety in sri-lanka.

@jetr Thanks Joan.

@onewing Thanks Babs, not too hard to get detail in the station and surrounds, but the hills were hazy. As for OH&S, definitely not on the agenda there.

Another great shot :)

@gilbertwood Thanks Denise, are you popping round on Saturday arvo?

Great composition and textures. Nice processing.

Did you get any tea back?

great image - I love the way it makes your eye follow the path taken by the train. Did you do lots of your travel by train? )

I'd love to see this in colour Marnie. I imagine that those hillsides are beautiful shades of green :)

Think I'm starting to get a 'thing' about railway lines!

@haskar Thank you Haskar, it's a lovely part of the world.

@yaorenliu I bought a couple of very small packets, easy to fit in my luggage.

@robz One fairly long trip in each of SL and India. Each around four hours.

@merrelyn Jane @jgpittenger suggested a colour version so I'll post one today. Everything is very green as you suggest, but often a bit hazy, not polluted, just hazy.
January 17th, 2019
@fbailey I definitely have one of those.
January 17th, 2019
Fabulous! I think for this, I do prefer the color version...but I wonder also at what increased contrast might do for the b&w?
January 18th, 2019
@taffy I think I marginally prefer the colour version too, but liked the challenge of doing the b&w. The hills were difficult, very hazy, I tried a bunch of party tricks but can't remember if I tried increased contrast. I'll check it out when I get time.

I prefer this one. I admit I have a strong soft spot for b&w, although I didn't pick up on the 2 guys crossing the tracks until I viewed the color which got lost in this one. Your POV is very engaging.
