Delhi street scene by golftragic

Delhi street scene

Crowd scene outside the iconic Jamid Masjid mosque in Delhi, complete with the usual beggar (woman).
a diverse group - fabulous candid

@annied I didn't venture into the mosque, too many stairs (and people) so was sitting in the bus people-watching and thoroughly enjoyed myself without getting hot and bothered. I got off the bus to go on the obligatory, and completely unimpressive, rickshaw ride and took this shot as I alighted. The woman was pressing forward on everyone, calling 'my baby, my baby'.

So much going on in this scene- what I would expect to see on a street in Delhi. Great black and white.

@olivetreeann Thanks Ann, the bloke in the blazer is our guide, Vikash, known to us as Victor. I think he's getting the rickshaws organised for our ride through some of the Old Delhi lanes. Very short and not, to my mind, worth the time and effort.

Talk about crowds. I’d be having a panic attack

@jgpittenger I'm not quite that bad - yet. But I do get very anxious, antsy and uptight.

@yaorenliu Thanks Yao, a bit too busy for my liking.

@rosiekerr Thanks Rosie, far too busy for this black duck.

@pamknowler Thanks Pam, if you've read the thread you'll know that this was the first time I'd ventured out of the bus. Far too busy for my liking. I have a generous notion of personal space!

So well done -- she and her child stand out among the crowds, given how you've processed it.

Oh dear - I just talk to these beggars in pyagganese!

@taffy Thank you very much, Taffy I appreciate your comment.

@maggiemae Damn! I should've thought of that. Keeping my mouth shut and eyes averted worked fairly well as I moved through the crowd. She was persistent, still there when we all came back from our rickshaw ride.

Superb. That is all.

So much to look at in this picture. I thought the chap in the blazer must have been someone official

Such a busy scene - but still allowing individual faces to have so much character. The beggar lady looks quite old to have that baby - I wonder if it was even hers?

You are brave to get your camera out - I'd be worried someone would mug me!

I love this. So much going on, so expressive of atmosphere

@graemestevens That will do nicely, thank you.

@onewing Only official to us. He usually wore a jumper or shirt-sleeves but this was the first day …

@robz I very much doubt it, begging is a real industry in India with lots of things not as they seem.

@fbailey I was very close to the door of our bus!! Added to which I use a wrist strap rather than a shoulder strap, so not so easy to snatch the camera.

@casablanca Bit mind-blowing IMO.

@gilbertwood It was!!! This mosque is a huge tourist attraction and therefore a magnet for all sorts of people hoping to make a buck.

@merrelyn @haskar Thank you both very much. Just a pity I didn't have more time to get some more shots.
