Handblock print

We visited a workshop which prints fabrics with hand-held blocks. This man had worked there for over 30 years. Everyone was given one of these pieces to take home.
Very much like this, not sure why.

I thought the same as Dianne, will you frame yours? A nice keepsake of your holiday.

Do they print bolts of fabric or only short lengths?

30 years is amazing. I agree with the others- he has an awesome face. And I'm also focused on his calloused elbow and thinking his hands must be permanently blue. Great portrait!

@yaorenliu He was amazing to watch, so quick.

@onewing @dide Haven't yet, but will do so. It's not fine art, but I like it, especially as a keepsake. Beats tourist tat.

@gilbertwood And so he should be. We watched him working on a border of a long piece of fabric, his hands just flashes of movement.

@merrelyn Yes they do print long pieces, maybe bolts. This guy demonstrated his skill hand-blocking a border, hands just a flash of movement.

@fbailey @robz @haskar Thanks folks, I too thought his face was well worth a photo.

@olivetreeann Yes, his face was very interesting. I had quite a few tries at getting shots of him working, but he moved so fast and other things/people kept getting in the way. I was rapt with this, my final chance actually worked out. His hands? Sometimes red, sometimes green etc would be my guess.
