Red gum frontage country by golftragic

Red gum frontage country

The vegetation in the distance is on the far bank of the Edward River where the country is quite different.
What an interesting difference - something to do with soil and water levels? Red gums are so majestic!

This could be a famous Australian painting! Perhaps it will be? fav

Australian trees are so resilient. Even the ones that have given up would be very handy in our wood burner. I wish I had my chain saw handy.

It has a vintage feel to it. Nice to see a bit of green, even if it is on the trees.

Beautiful old trees. I wonder how long they will last with the rivers drying up.

In spite of the dry conditions (and probably thanks to the nearby river??) these beauties have created a great shot for you. I really like the lighting and how tall they are!

@robz Mainly soils I think Rob. The Edward forms somewhat of a dividing line between the Riverine soils north of the Murray, and the black-soil plains where the station country begins.

@maggiemae Many thanks MM. I wish.

@onewing Need a darned sharp chain-saw on that red-gum Babs. There's around 11 miles of frontage country on the farm and much of it's been cut for sleepers in the past.

@dide I totally agree.

@gilbertwood Thank you very much, Denise.

@ethelperry That's a very serious issue Ethel, as you'd well know. Some red-gums areas are already showing signs of stress, and with no floods there's no regeneration.

@merrelyn Many thanks Merrelyn.
