Rainy night by golftragic

Rainy night

Melbourne CBD, three weeks ago.
Great B&W shot with lovely light reflections on the wet road. It seems to be a popular place at night.

@onewing Sure would if I could Babs. We've had rather too much recently after a long dry spell.

@domenicododaro Thanks Domenico. I'm very rarely in the city, and couldn't tell you when I was last there at night till that week. I got quite excited when I saw it had rained.

@salza Thanks Sally, far too busy in colour.

@maggiemae @gilbertwood @casablanca @robz Many thanks to each and all of you. I can assure you I was in no danger whatsoever. My two sisters and I were staying in an apartment at Quest on Bourke. Sitting yacking over wine and cheese when I saw it was raining outside so Gill and I went down, crossed over to the tram safety zone straight outside the front door, took a few shots and returned to wine, cheese and chat. We hadn't all been together for more years than I choose to think about (Lennox Head, Paynesville and Geelong) and had such a ball that we're planning to do it again next year

@merrelyn @photographycrazy Thank you both very much. I hardly ever take night shots so was quite pleased the few I took were OK.

@jgpittenger Thanks Jane, I very rarely take night shots so didn't hold high hopes for the few I shot that night. I was so happy when I saw that a couple had turned out OK.

Wonderful shiny reflections! Sounds like an excellent "catch up" with family, too.

@rosiekerr Thanks Rosie, we had a wonderful time together. Despite the apartment being very close to Chinatown and lots of good places to eat, we just got take-away and ate 'at home', with a couple of good bottles of wine. Fabulous. The geography is difficult, but well worth the effort and we all want a repeat next year. I'm the lucky one. Given the way Australian transport works Melbourne is by far the simplest place to meet up, only an hour in the train for me.

I love cityscapes at night and if the streets are wet, even better. Nice image Marnie.

@taffy Thanks Taffy, I value such comments from you very much. We're rarely in Melbourne, extremely rarely at night and super-rarely with rain at night. We're not even in Geelong CBD at night, but I'm tempted to make the effort after this small experience. My sisters and I are planning on making our meetup an annual event, fingers crossed for next year.
