Toul Sleng by golftragic

Toul Sleng

This is the notorious prison the Khmer Rouge created from a High School in Phnom Pen. Anyone who was sent here would have been better off killed straight away. I was so affected by the atmosphere of this terrible place I simply could not go into that building. It just felt like pure evil incarnate, and I could hear the screams of the tortured inmates resounding in my head. I waited on a seat outside while the rest of my group walked through the building. Note the wire mesh on the balconies to stop any poor soul who did escape diving off and quitting the world quickly and cleanly.
The sadness of this renders me almost speechless. It must touch a raw nerve every time you see the photo. Good that you shared it.

Very brave of you to go there and take this photo. Glad to see it is abandoned. How long ago since it was last used? Thank you for sharing

I wouldn't have been able to go in either. Thanks for sharing.

@ethelperry We should never forget these kinds of atrocities, and the vibes around this site were incredibly chilling.

@ninaganci It was only in use, if one can use that word, for a few year. For the history of Toul Sleng see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuol_Sleng_Genocide_Museum
