Lifting span, Swan Hill bridge by golftragic

Lifting span, Swan Hill bridge

This old timber-truss, steel lift-span bridge was opened in 1895. It spans the Murray River which, for non-Aussies, forms the border between the states (then colonies) of Victoria and NSW. Carrying far heavier traffic than ever designed for, the bridge is frequently under repair of some kind.

Great composition and shot. Thanks for the info, it sounds like many of our bridges too ;-)

I have seen this bridge on someone else's pictures (I don't think she's on 365 now) and was amazed I recognized it! Good shot- I really like that reflection in the water and the colors.

@olivetreeann What a memory!! The bridge is a real icon, as are others of similar age right along the Murray river.

@golftragic Yes- she took a lot of pictures around the Murray River- I even remember what her picture looked like- but do you think I can remember her name?!

Like the PoV. Poor bridge to be so abused :):). Happy Easter!
