Contrasts

India is full of highly visible, often disturbing contrasts like this shot showing a man bathing in the river near a rubbush-strewn bank and some of the ornate Hazarduari Palace at Murshidabad.
Powerful storytelling.

@taffy Thanks. India's full of stories, many of them about the huge socio-economic disparities.

What a telling image! It seems unimaginable from our comfortable positions...

It’s so hard to see such stark contrasts! Heartbreaking!

@robz Absolutely right Rob, quite beyond our comprehension.

@gigiflower Yep. Probably not too many options for the poor, of whom there are untold millions.

@ludwigsdiana Yes, quite disturbing isn't it?

@pamknowler Totally agree Pam. The caste system has a fair bit to do with this sort of thing, but there must be far, far more that I wouldn't have a clue about.

This tells quite a powerful story. You have captured the contrasts so well. The sad part is that the chap in the picture will never be able to leave the caste he was born into, so not a chance in hell of ever living in a house like this

The contrast is mind boggling.

Two worlds so close yet so far apart. A most telling image. Fav.

Compelling indeed. Excellent shot.

Ouch

@onewing You are absolutely right Babs, I know we too have a pretty big difference between rich and poor, but nothing compared with this kind of thing.

@gilbertwood Certainly is to me.
