FOR2020 12 Contrasts

Definitely not the world's greatest photo, but I like the contrasts between the different architectural styles, particularly between the nineteenth-century Her Majesty's theatre in the foreground and modern forms in the background.
Good in B&W. Good to see some of our history preserved.

@ethelperry Absolutely right Ethel. Far too many interesting, quaint and important old buildings have been demolished in the name of so-called progress. Their replacement vertical bird-boxes and towering worker bee colonies are ghastly IMHO.

Yup, great contrasts...also like the reflections

Like that the historical is a base for those bird-boxes.

Really strong combination of structures and well processed for B&W.

Love that old theatre, such a pity that the bird boxes spoil the scene. It does give a great reflection. I should image that the rent must be pretty steep though.

@joysabin Yeah, but pity about the bird-boxes. I absolutely hate the whole high-rise thing. Our world is over-populated.

@taffy Thanks Taffy, pity the lens distortion was so bad.

@ludwigsdiana It's a gorgeous old theatre and still very comfortable to spend hours in there. I think all city rents are ridiculously high. Australian urban real estate prices are sky-high with these rock-bottom interest rates.

Yes, amazing contrast

An interesting range of architectural styles. I would hate to live in a high rise!

Great shot and contrast. We've probably got used to the chaos
February 12th, 2020
It has such a nice variety - really keeps your eye interested!

@caterina Thank you Caterina.

@merrelyn Couldn't bear it!!!!! But apparently there's a whole lot of younger people who actually choose to do so for various reasons, eg money, lifestyle, proximity to work/wine-bars/cafes etc. Not this black duck.

@haskar I hate crowds and love space.
February 13th, 2020
@robz Funny mix isn't it?
February 13th, 2020
@angelikavr I didn't see all of it till I saw the photo.
