FOR2020 15 Pivot irrigator by golftragic

FOR2020 15 Pivot irrigator

One of the two pivot irrigators on my son's farm. Custom-built for each paddock these machines apparently require some pretty complicated maths when being made. The key things are (a) to fit the target paddock; and (b) to ensure that the water is distributed evenly from all outlets which are, of course, circling in different perimeters according to distance from the centre-point. This irrigator was used to water the dual-purpose canola, but there was insufficient water allocation available to finish off the crop.
Great image but so sad to see it so dry!

It's far grimmer than I've ever seen it in my 50 years of knowing this property.

Heart breaking but great pov and lines

@jgpittenger Yes, definitely grim Jane, but it always give me hope when I see how the more progressive farmers are adapting to the new normal/s.

Great composition and lines. Such an unpleasant view and we do not know what will happen next.

@momamo Thanks Monique

@salza Yeah, enough to start it and get some sheep feed at least, not enough to finish it off. Such is life these days.

@777margo Thanks Margo, they're not uncommon.

Great composition and lines. So dry! Thank you for sharing this interesting information. We are learning a lot from your posts about the climate in your area of Australia

What a shame - would send our rain over to you if I could...

I've seen these beasties before. I never knew that they were custom to the field that they worked. Like perspective.

I love the leading lines of the irrigator and its shadow. Sad to hear about the insufficient water issues.

@angelikavr Not too sure how much country this one covers Angelika, will find out. Paddocks in this kind of country tend to be very big, at least 400 or 500 acres ranging up to 1000 acres.

@haskar I know what you mean, but I find a certain industrial beauty in the machine itself.
