Recently I visited the most southeastern part of Tasmania. Firstly, I stopped around Eaglehawk Neck, a narrow strip of land connecting the beautiful Tasman Peninsula with the rest of the island. Tessellated Pavement is an entirely natural occurrence. A large area of flat rock became fractured due to earth movement millions of years ago. The second contributor to that natural wonder was the presence of sea crystals and the gradual but constant erosion which enabled the sea crystals from the crashing water to form deep lines and patterns, creating the pavement appearance.
