diva by gozoinklings

diva

... quite the drama queen with her operatic cloak and her very stagey posing - clinging for dear life to that dried up old leaf & giving me that old 'i vant to be alone ...' look !

the crimson-speckled flunkey ! (advised to view large so you don't just mistake her for a little bit of cloth!)
Nia
Goodness! When I first looked at it I was thinking the dried up leaf was the subject/insect and wondered how you got it to hold onto a piece of material! That is one amazing moth! Beautiful captured, highly recommend enlarging!

OH WOW. At first, I thought the leaf was stuck with cloth. Holy moly that is awesome. I have to fav. I have never seen anything like this.

@sianipops ha ha - it's true those two leaves look like a crusty old spider - or something with legs :o)

Coming back to fav & look Daryl also thought it was a piece of cloth.

@darylo @sianipops ha ha - my little rag of a diva - has a humble name, flunkey or footman - thanks for faving and raising her/his status :o)

@amandal nice surprise favs - thanks amanda :o) was worth following her and waiting for her to position herself and get comfortable - us paparazzi have to pander to the stars!

Very unusual, indeed - my FAV!

Just a question, but have you played at all with cropping? I honestly thought it was a piece of cloth at first, but the detail is so pretty with the bokeh! :)
October 1st, 2013
Blimey, it's the Rule Britannia moth. What a find! Those colours are amazing!
October 1st, 2013
@darylo i did crop closer so you can see the moth clearer daryl and probably should have - but i was entranced by the bokeh too !
October 1st, 2013
what a beauty, I like your personification
October 1st, 2013
@titam that's lovely thank you :o) - took quite a bit of chasing but this project has taught me patience (with insects at least!)
October 1st, 2013
@mercuria it's that regal ermine trimming :o) she didn't look that special flitting around but i was wondering why her wings were falling so oddly until i realised it wasn't a butterfly
October 1st, 2013
@kali66 not only that but i did quite a bit of talking to her too :o)
October 1st, 2013
What a fabulous looking moth - have never seen one quite like it. Certainly a local wonder :)

What a beautiful bug! Great bokeh in the background too.
October 1st, 2013
At first glance I thought the dried up leaf was clinging to a piece of cloth! Never seen anything like this diva - what a great photo.
October 1st, 2013
Ha ha, just read the comments above me and it seems I was just repeating everyone else - this really got us all sucked in!
October 1st, 2013
@happysnap hmmm would like to say was my deliberate tricksy non-cropping but my refusal to crop off bokeh seems to have created some mystery :o)

Very cool. What great colors. Wonderful focus and dof.
October 1st, 2013
That's really cool (I never say that because my 'kids' cringe) but it is! So unusual I haven't seen one like that before, wouldn't mind a cloak like that myself.

I've never seen anything like that! Actually, I never would have suspected a moth with coloration like that even existed! Thank you for showing me one of the true wonders of the world! And to think it's there in your own back yard! Wow!
