Surplus to Requirements

I regret to inform you all that marmalade has been removed from the menu. With a grapefruit tree that has decided to run rampant and fruit a total of 3 times so far this year, we have not come anywhere near to "keeping up" with the profusion of Vitamin C which has been raining down on us from above every time we walk under this tree. We do however have an ample supply of ammunition to use against door to door sales people, people who don't pick up after their dogs (I have 2 dogs and manage to do it, it's just inconvenient when your lawn mower has a fabric catcher) and random passing strangers.

Thanks to my beautiful, devoted, understanding and tolerant wife for giving me a quick driving lesson on Coral Draw for the editing on this one. When is a good time to tell her that I have already forgotten?
great story - made me smile - great image and editing - and she would already know you have forgotten :)

Sam
Mmm, I'm thinking that you need to improve your gardening skills! Then you will have grapefruits aplenty!!

@annied thanks, I believe that while she was teaching me she had a sneaking suspicion that I was forgetting as we went!
@gigiflower you could be right...when we bought the property is was completely overgrown and out of control - one battle at a time I think!

I love the way you have to tell very good story with your picture. You are a great story teller and a great photographer. In my book, the definition is: A great artist! I love look and ready what you publish. I also lke to see and read what is not publish. I'm convice you have a box somewhere full of interresting work. Am I wrong?
April 26th, 2014
@daneau thank you so much, and guilty as charged. I have a box full of "stuff" that hasn't (and probably won't) see the light of day!

@graemestevens Ha ha ha! I know it! It's ok, you have the right to keep it for you! Everyone have a secret garden.
April 26th, 2014
Haha! I forget all the time! Great story, great processing. Fav. My brother had a grapefruit and orange tree--yummers.
April 26th, 2014
@darylo we just plant (perhaps foolishly) a mandarin tree as well...hoping we can keep up,
April 26th, 2014
I can't imagine how exciting it must be to have rotting grapefruit in the garden! And soon to be joined by some mandarins!
April 26th, 2014
Wonderfully yucky! Your text, as usually, amused me no end. The processing is great, do try to remember your lesson!
April 26th, 2014
Looks less than tasty ...... great color contrast!

@lleo it's a delight to be cleaning them up! I've won the battle with half of the garden since we moved in, so I'm moving on to this section of it over winter.
@golftragic thanks...but remember what now???
@creativefool Thanks, I have to admit that it required more than delicate handling, I was terrified that it was going to burst open on me

When I saw this in the thumb nail on my phone, I thought it was a scone liberally sprinkled with icing sugar! Not quite so appetising now I've read your blurb! :-) Like the selective colouring

@wearing0 thanks - Kim said that it looked like a bun of some sort as well but there's no way I'd be sinking my teeth into this bad boy!

Your commentary made me laugh. Careful how you tell her or she may use your ammunition against you.

April 27th, 2014
great shot Graeme. Corel Draw is not an easy program, took me a few years to really master it
April 27th, 2014
@ninaganci thanks, and you're not wrong - we're considering going to Photoshop!
April 28th, 2014
I'll have some of those for the people who leave their dog mess outside my front gate please....
April 28th, 2014
@newbank sure - that's one thing (among many) that drives me insane
April 29th, 2014
You have such a wicked sense of humour - love it! Superb capture and processing - I threw out Corel YEARS ago - far too difficult for my grey matter!!!
April 29th, 2014
Thanks very much, and it looks like Corel will have to go!
