Wilkies Pools by graemestevens

Wilkies Pools

Yesterday we went for a wander half way up Mount Taranaki to Wilkies Pools. These are a series of naturally formed rock pools, made by the Kapuni Stream as it flows down the Southern slopes of the mountain to Dawson Falls and then on to the sea. The water is crystal clear and untainted at this point (at least until I put my feet in it) and is one of my favourite places on the mountain.
Wow!!! These are great, Graeme!!!

July 11th, 2014
@redy4et Thanks very much...again :)
@jess1204 Thanks...me too!
@newbank Thanks very much - I like it better as well and at the temperature it is at the moment it will certainly wake you up. Kim dropped her lens cap in and as her knight in shining armour I plunged my hand into the water to retrieve it. And felt my testicles disappear at the same time...
@hermann Pun pardoned and thanks very much
@shepherdmanswife Thanks very much - there are a series of them running through this section of the river, quite a stunning place to visit
@creativefool Thanks very much, it's one of my favourite places on the mountain
@annied Thanks twice...we use filters to slow down the shutter speed and get the silky effect...not sure of it's technically correct but it works
@deliad Thanks very much, and I believe you may be right there
@flyrobin Thank you so much. this is Mount Taranaki on the West Coast of the North Island, in Taranaki, about half way up the island...a truly stunning mountain and only about 30 minutes from home

@annied I'm old and slightly intoxicated. Straight lines are not making an appearance in my thought patterns this evening. So sorry.
July 11th, 2014
@graemestevens hahaha I am older and have had a few myself - who said anything about the need for straight lines ;-P
July 11th, 2014
@annied My mind is usually like a steel trap, albeit slightly rusty and under utilised. I may sleep very, very well tonight :)
July 11th, 2014
