The Thin Wall by graemestevens

The Thin Wall

More fun with plastic wrap, and also one for the Madhatters "Seven Deadly Sins" challenge, namely wrath.
I had to drive into the back of beyond this morning for work and lost radio coverage so plugged in the iPod and heard a song that instantly (albeit loosely) inspired this shot, mainly from a vague memory of the music video that accompanied it. I still like that song and that band, particularly in that era, and I know my lovely wife @kimkyra will know the song and band as well...anyone else care to feel old with me and take a guess?

And those who sneer will fade and die
And those who laugh will surely fall
And those who know will always feel their backs against the thin wall.

Best viewed against the black...now there's a shock. One day I might challenge myself to do a shot that's best viewed against white...
Can't begin to take a guess at the song, but I like the shot. Very creative and well executed. Now, that is a knife!
September 10th, 2014
@eyeamlisa Thanks very much - that's my favourite kitchen knife...ah, the things its seen and done...
September 10th, 2014
I thought I recognized it from your double exposure "Temper" shot awhile back... The one where it was definitely not stuck into the wood floor. ;-)
September 10th, 2014
Wow! So creative!amazing execution,I love it fav
September 10th, 2014
Hmm, can't say I know the song. Can you hum it please. Great pic, making me smile on an otherwise dull day.
September 10th, 2014
Very cool. love the snarl on your face.
September 10th, 2014
this one I love! FAV!
September 10th, 2014
@eyeamlisa I would never stick a knife in the floor...not me, never. Walks away whistling innocently...
@mzzhope Thank you very much...this one was done in clear view of the neighbours house...worried looks...
@jules13 Thanks very much - I'm pleased I delivered a smile!
@bill_fe Thanks very much...that's just a normal look...
@jsw0109 Thank you very much, much appreciated :)
September 10th, 2014
Interesting series of shots -- this one is going in my favorites.
September 10th, 2014
I can't imagine how you pulled this off without police involvement! Seriously, I like the lines in the plastic wrap... Most intriguing. Also, bonus for the huge knife. No clue on the song.
September 10th, 2014
@mcsiegle Thank you very much indeed :)
@rosiekerr I have a reasonably private back yard, and thanks very much :) As for the knife, it's quite wonderful ;)
September 10th, 2014
I know what it is, but i won't reveal, just give a hint! The singer of the band is Scottish!
Creative shot, Mr Stevens!
September 10th, 2014
Very fun! :) I would say wrath suits.
September 10th, 2014
@tomtom Thanks very much and so pleased not to be the only one to be showing my age! I was starting to worry for a while there...
@voiceprintz Thanks very much...wrath or wrapped, one of the two...
September 10th, 2014
Great fun shot.....fav
September 10th, 2014
@rustymonkey Thank you very much, always appreciated :)
September 10th, 2014
Cool shot, and I am showing my age here. I think I know the song! I think I am correct if I say Ultravox, just not sure of the title.
September 10th, 2014
Now you know how a bale of silage feels... great shot..
September 10th, 2014
You never cease to amaze ... looks a bit like a tar pit to me. Well executed!
September 10th, 2014
That is cool. But scary.
September 10th, 2014
@ukandie1 A hint at the title is the title of Graeme's photo :)
September 10th, 2014
@tomtom lol...it takes me a while but I get there in the end. I cannot believe I did not twig that.
September 10th, 2014
@ukandie1 @tomtom Yep, it's the title of the shot and definitely Ultravox...I even have the albums from the pre-eighties, John Foxx days...no wonder I'm grey haired...
@ukandie1 And thank you very much too :)
@julzmaioro LOL, as long as I don't start to smell like one! And thanks very much :)
@aecasey Thanks very much - I guess it does a bit. Wait...are you calling me a dinosaur???
@tatopaz Thank you very much - it's not scary. I'm just a big idiot :)
September 10th, 2014
Looks like a lot of fun, great result!!!
September 10th, 2014
@beluga It was fun, in a peculiar kind of way - thanks very much :)
September 10th, 2014
Again brilliant idea and executed. Looks like you coming out of water. Fav!
September 10th, 2014
Love your facial expression!
September 10th, 2014
This shot also has a touch of the "Here's Johnny" to it. Awesome set up, and a fave for the effort you have gone to.
September 10th, 2014
This rocks! Fav!
September 10th, 2014
Great idea excellently executed.
September 10th, 2014
Would never have guessed that song, even though I was 'young' during that era, Ultravox didn't feature in my repertoire much. You never cease to amaze me with your images, it must be such fun thinking what to do next
September 10th, 2014
Great shot. I like the emerging from the plastic and the expresion is priceless.
September 10th, 2014
Hell yes, this is so awesome! I have no idea what the song is but it does fit here so it was a good place to get inspired. Brilliant idea and so well executed. It is even more effective on black of course. Fav
September 10th, 2014
You have a lot of plastic... your images make me think... Thank you ;)
September 10th, 2014
@ounooi Thanks very much :)
@harbie If you have a face made of rubber you may as well use it!
@karlow75 Thanks very much, appreciated
@orangecrush Thanks very much indeed :)
@spanner Thanks you very much :)
@dibzgreasley Most of my bizarre ideas are from the music I listen to...not sure what that means...and thanks very much
@chippy1402 Thanks very much...just a normal expression ;)
@susale Thanks very much, much appreciated :)
@lisatown I have half a roll left...who knows what could happen! And thank you very much :)
September 10th, 2014
Recognise the boots and knife. Not what I was expecting from 365 project.
September 10th, 2014
Very creative mr S
September 10th, 2014
so cool, FAV
September 10th, 2014
First view, I thought you were sinking in a mire of molasses, the expression on your face is a crackup, well done on another creative image :)
September 10th, 2014
Creative shot.
September 10th, 2014
you are a nutcase - and that is perfectly normal in my book hahahahaha
September 10th, 2014
so creative - swimming in plastic
September 10th, 2014
oh and Vienna comes to mind now also hahahaha
September 10th, 2014
So glad you are into recycling! I would hate to see all that black plastic go to waste!! Frankly, I thought you were swimming in a lava field at first, but was disappointed to notice that it was just more black plastic!
Tomorrow we pour concrete....I'll see if I can replicate this shot trying to get myself out of it!
September 10th, 2014
Are you sure that's plastic wrap and not treacle? Looks like the order of the boot wins the day,
September 10th, 2014
lmao! instant fav! really cool :-)
September 10th, 2014
Great textures in all that!
September 10th, 2014
Sam
Doc Marten boots?
September 10th, 2014
@newbank After all this time? At least you recognise the boots :)
@shepherdmanswife Thanks very much :)
@andrewkru Thank you very much kind sir
@hermann If it was molasses I'd be holding a spoon rather than a knife ;) Thanks very much too
@tonygig Thanks very much :)
@annied Yes, yes I am. A regularly loony toon. And I always liked The Hymn as well...but Vienna is a cool tune.
@shannejw Thanks very much - no speedos though!
@panthora I try and recycle as much as I can. In fact our rubbish men come and knock on the door if there are no wine bottles put out, just to make sure we're okay...looking forward to seeing your concrete shot...
@ceilidh The boot always wins the day, and if it was treacle I'd be holding a spoon...
@tracie8266 Thanks very much - always pleased to deliver a laugh!
@pusspup Thanks - it great stuff to play with!
@gigiflower Is there any other kind of boot?
September 10th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens Thank goodness.......for a moment I wondered if our "friendship" would come to an end. I mean I'm struggling to cope with skivvy's and Velcro sandals, but if they weren't Docs, then it would be O.V.E.R
September 10th, 2014
@gigiflower Definitely Docs. One is in possession of 5 pairs. I need two more to cover the week.
September 10th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens Sounds like you are spoilt for choice!
September 10th, 2014
@gigiflower It's only because they're so damned comfortable. And big and chunky. And fit my feet that are more like paddles than anything else. Sigh.
September 10th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens Docs for Winter, sandals for Summer!
September 10th, 2014
@gigiflower Docs all year round - the only concession I make to summer is sunglasses. I have no desire to lose my graveyard tan.
September 10th, 2014
Sam
September 10th, 2014
Well not so long ago I could have matched you under the plastic like this! The amount of black plastic I have wrestled in my life time you wouldn't believe!
Talking about silo wrapping here so no wrong ideas! We always sheeted our silage clamp up with rolls & rolls of this stuff...I hate the stuff!! We had to cover the stuff with tyres after that so that's your next job, covering yourself with tyres!!
LOL you are a one!!
September 10th, 2014
@happypat I have the deep and lasting pleasure of fighting this stuff at work on a regular basis as well...it's a delight all right. At least you only challenged me to covering myself with tyres and not silage!!!
@gigiflower Good. God. No.
September 10th, 2014
@graemestevens ha ha....are you up for the challenge?
September 10th, 2014
@happypat The silage challenge? Most definitely not, but thank you for the kind offer. The tyre challenge? I have a spare one of my own that barely fits in my t-shirts without adding more to the collection!
September 10th, 2014
Sam
@graemestevens Ah yes I realise now that NZ weather doesn't require shorts!
September 10th, 2014
@gigiflower Correct, and it's not just the weather that makes me not require shorts. Anyway, I must away as Billy Connolly is about to start on TV and I fancy a giggle. Have a superb evening.
September 10th, 2014
wow, you must be keeping the plastic industry going! That said, this is so creative and interesting. I even remember Ultravox!
September 10th, 2014
Oh My Gosh! another creative one. I too thought you were in black treacle or a dank pond.
September 10th, 2014
Mad is right! I like your use of perspective here
September 10th, 2014
you look like a freezingworker run amok
September 10th, 2014
