I may have mislead some of you yesterday when I said that it was peaceful and calm at the beach. There was a point in the proceedings where it most definitely was not. At one point I think I may have got too close to the ladies as I was suddenly being dive bombed with great enthusiasm by their men folk. This was followed by a brief period of exertion as I moved further down the beach, accompanied by a string of expletives and flapping arms.
I've tagged this for the Madhatters-Creepy challenge as apparently some people are a bit "creeped out" by birds, in a Hitchcock kind of way. Personally I think they're delicious.
I am a confirmed and certifiable nutbar with a penchant for skulls, bones, blood, guts, fire and anything slightly peculiar and mostly bizarre. I also...
@amandal I suppose I could tag it for that...I've been struggling with that theme as (honestly) not much creeps me out...unless you count the likes of Pride & Prejudice...
@graemestevens Yeah, that crap is pretty creepy. Shall I wear my pink or my blue gown? Oh will he dance with me or not. Actually I liked that one ok, but her other stuff and that period in time was unbearable. What the heck made you what you are today? Nothing messed you up;-).
@tracie8266 Thanks very much - dumb luck masquerading as skill ;) @pittcj17 Thank you kindly...taken as I dive rolled along the beach ;) @livvy Thank you most kindly, appreciated :) @amandal Certainly gives me the creeps...as for what made me what I am today...I have no idea but I've grabbed it and I'm running with it ;)
You never cease to amaze ..... am sure it's not just me ..... You most definitely fall into the category 'People You Would LIke To Get Stuck In A Car In A Snow Drift With' !! It's a different slant on the Ideal Dinner Party Guests ...
Love this shot, that negative space is awesome! You have managed to make a seagull look a bit creepy, and I grew next to the beach and am quite familiar with them!
@anazad511 Thank you very much, much appreciated :) @maggiemae Thanks very much - there were dozens of the buggers but this was the one that appealed to me
@overalvandaan Thanks very much indeed :) @tasian Thank you very much - I tend to run like a slightly panicky 12 year old girl ;) @ukandie1 Thanks very much :) @lleo I made sure there was negative space above me at all times ;) @janiskay Oh I agree, but I still quite like them...apparently other find them a bit creepy... @kwind Thanks very much :) @hermann He was intennt on getting me, kept circling back for more...and thank you very much @nanderson Thanks very much - I think the feet are my favourite part @tellefella I think they're definitely a bit of both! @bill_fe Thank you kind sir, always appreciated @scolgs Thanks very much :) @jan20 Thanks very much :) @jocasta Thanks very much - there was no landing going on, just diving and squawking! @pinkpaintpot Thanks very much ...wonderful in a Pita ;)
I told you not to go spreading yourself around and upsetting the ladies - now look what you've done - gulls let out awesome expletives - I bet yours and theirs together was a cacophony of wonderful sounds!
Cleverly captured and processed dear sir
Love this! Creepy yet fascinating . . . yes, you did Hitchcock proud! I used to read the du Maurier story to my students and I loved it way better than the movie . . . but the movie, without the original, is much more eerie!
Fantastic use of that white space Graeme.......the seagull just pops out at you! Don't know about Kiwi seagulls but the UK ones at Blackpool are very bold, would almost take a chip out of your mouth! Fave.
@brigette Thank you very much @happypat Thanks very much - I think it must be a universal...I was dive bombed a few times when we lived in the UK as well. Unless it's the same one, in which case Border Control has serious issues...
@rosiekerr Thanks very much - there was a lot of dive rolling going on! @leanne333 Thank you very much - the way he was behaving I wanted as much negative space between us as I could manage! @ceilidh Oh yes, as did the other two dozen ;) @creativefool LOL, thank you so much :) @susale Thanks very much - I quite like them. I must be a freak ;)
@graemestevens Yes, they do in my class, and they don't love me so much!! We read an excerpt from Treasure Island the other day . . . and they had to annotate it and really dig . . . smiles all around!
@egad Thanks very much :) @ounooi Thank you very much :) @gigiflower@lbluejaye8 I operate a strict "tag and release" policy. As soon as I've caught them and applied full make up they are released into the wild again. They come to appreciate it after a while.
You broke all the rules of composition... and came up with a cracking shot! It definitely looks as though it's about to transition into a kamikaze desth dive - whicj, I guess, is what gives it its creepiness. Brilliant work - Fav for me.
@spikez It wasn't at all pleasant...still, I needed the exercise
@pittcj17 Thank you kindly...taken as I dive rolled along the beach ;)
