For those of you suffering in the cruel grip of winter, we are not. I don't often leave the house to take photographs of more 'normal' things but today I thought I would make an exception to my rule of "not mixing with the general populace" and venture in to the great outdoors...who knew there were birds and sunshine?

Cool shot and I am in pure misery with no end in sight. We have about 3-4 months of winter left. Ugh! I'll just have yo live vicariously through all my Southern Hemisphere friends!
So... I am pleased you are mingling with the commoners. This is a lovely shot. It would delight me to see such a thing at our chilly North American beaches. :)

I'm not minding winter at the moment. As I informed @gigiflower yesterday the ridilous heat levels you get down there are just plain right silly. Hubby's aunt is in Australia visiting family and is spending most of the day indoors because it's too hot. Point made. Moving swiftly on. What are these things called sunshine and birds you mention about?
@newbank I had no idea that there were birds and sunshine until today either...it cam as something of a shock. Australia gets much hotter than NZ in the main, our summers are remarkably similar to yours (25 degrees and last for one day only)
@graemestevens were you/ are you from nz originally? What brought you/ drove you from these fine shores. You seen @gigiflower got nothing to say today? Worrying.
@newbank I am from NZ originally - we thought we might like to see a bit of the world so based ourselves in the UK for 6 1/2 years or so before heading back this way. And yes, @gigiflower has been awfully quiet today
@newbank@graemestevens had a very bay day with our youngest - taking him clothes shopping. He is now playing Xbox with husband so I have retreated to the study with glass of red in hand - setting myself up to look at photos and drink more wine in peace, of course :)

I heard it is hard to get a shot of Old Nine Toe Willie. Because of the shame of the accident involving a Billy goat, half a cucumber and a butter knife. I don't want to be telling any stories or pointing any fingers. But old Nine Toes should have known not to do them kind of things near a Billy goat. Every kid knows you could cut off a toe or something if you got a half a cucumber and a butter knife near a Billy goat. Some say he was lucky it was only one toe.
His real name is not Willie they just call him that because of the goat and the horrific childhood accident. Heard they made him a shoe that makes him look like he has all of his toes. But he won't wear it.
