Jerusalem by graemestevens

Jerusalem

This is Jerusalem (yes, all of it), which is a small historic settlement on the banks of the Whanganui River. The road to Jerusalem is extremely narrow, winding and subjected to regular flooding and slips...but rather nice and quite scenic despite this being the season for repairing all those slips and washouts.
Best to go by canoe, I would think! Nice to see this if it is so isolated and certainly not on the main drag!

Colour, and a nice commentary!!!!!! What have you done with Graeme Stevens?

I lived in Wanganui 18 years and I still haven't visited here-meant to a few times. Excellent shot.

Idyllic scene - love the rich colors, crisp focus, and that ominous sky.

@tracie8266 Thanks very much - it's a very nice, if somewhat difficult drive
@deborah63 I know, I know...it's all a bit off putting really. I don't do colour very well though so there probably won't be much more.
@maggiemae Definitely not on the main drag, not by a long shot

@jetr Thanks very much - I never think that I do colour very well!
@julzmaioro It's worth the drive just for the stunning scenery

Looks to me like a jolly green and pleasant land with no sight of dark satanic mills. Love the shot.
January 19th, 2016
So beautifully green.
January 19th, 2016
It looks so peaceful despite the angry looking sky!
January 19th, 2016
I like the colour and the steeple against that ominous sky

@golftragic Those are all underground, and thanks :)
@dibzgreasley Unnaturally green if you ask me - the rest of the country is quite brown at the moment. Mind you, about 5 metres to the left there's a bloody great big river.
@salza There was not even a hint of a banjo...
@barb_b Thanks very much - I'm not very good at colour...

@blueberry1222 That's one way of putting it...
@hermann Thanks very much - they delivered on that promise too...
@tonygig Thank you very much :)
@susale It was certainly very quiet.
@vignouse I'm uncomfortable with this shot - I can't get my head around colour and feel that I don't "do it" very well. Perhaps I should practice.
@mastermek Only $500 a night, cash only ;)

Not your usual, but I like it, looks an interesting place so i googled it and see it was home to a hippy commune back in the early 70's. You are not thinking of reviving it , sort of a peace love and skulls type of thing..
January 19th, 2016
Nicely composed shot.
January 19th, 2016
@jack4john whahaha, peace, love and skulls type of thing

A place we'd explore if we were traveling there!
January 19th, 2016
@jack4john I don't think I could deal with all the hessian under garments...
@kwind Thanks very much :)
@overalvandaan It's very peaceful and would probably be worth a look around

January 21st, 2016
