The Inhospitable End by graemestevens

The Inhospitable End

This was taken at my usual haunt, but well away from the sandy part.
Down at this end of the "beach" the tide doesn't seem to recede very far and a certain amount of "rock hopping" is required to get to where you want to be.
I have fallen once along this stretch, although I much prefer the phrase "gently and delicately tipped sideways" and as a result have a permanent dent in my lower leg.
Amazing shot! Worth the rock hopping!

Super textures...worth the leg dent.
July 10th, 2016
Looks like some painful walking - or stumbling. Great photo, though! Love the shadows and contrasts!
July 10th, 2016
@frantackaberry Thank you very much indeed :)
@alophoto Thank you kindly...my leg will apparently never fully recover and will always be dented. It gives me lovely contours ;)
@juliedduncan Thank you kindly - far too much hopping. It's not until you do that much hopping and stumbling that you realise how much you wobble where you never did before.

The light s divine
July 10th, 2016
@northy I can't take any credit for that but I will say thank you and then pretend that I arranged for just this shot...
July 10th, 2016
@northy has it right, divine light. The rocks keep the 'rabble' out and lets you enjoy dent and all.
July 10th, 2016
Wonderful depth to this!
July 10th, 2016
Wonderful light. I like how the spray blows off the breaking wave, too. You... hopping. I have a difficult time picturing this.
July 10th, 2016
@graemestevens I had to think about that for a minute . . . ;)
July 10th, 2016
Love the pov in this shot. Hopping around there should have a red-flag saying, Take Care of your Ankles.
July 10th, 2016
Love it - fav
July 10th, 2016
@joysabin Thank you very much - it's best without the rabble I find ;)
@lsquared Thank you very much :)
@rosiekerr It's more of an evil swoop than a hop...and thank you
@juliedduncan Don't spend too long thing about me hopping and wobbling...
@golftragic Thank you very much - it's a ricky business
July 10th, 2016
@pdulis Thank you very much :)
July 10th, 2016
Quite impressive depth to this scene.
July 10th, 2016
@taffy Thank you very much - I was a bit dubious when I took it because of the light - I haven't played with it too much either...sock horror
July 10th, 2016
A wonderful feel
July 10th, 2016
Very nice atmosphere and light! Wonderful b&w! fav
July 10th, 2016
Great layers of interest! It is the foreground i find the most interesting. I might be tempted to chop off some of the sky to put more emphasis on the foreground rocks, but that is just me, the person who tries mostly street and architectural stuff so if you disagree I will not be offended!
July 10th, 2016
Fantastic on black. Love all those light and shadow structures on the rocks in the foreground. Take care! Big fav.
July 10th, 2016
@mona65 Thank you very much - I survived this trip!
@ukandie1 Thank you, input always welcome - I do agree that the foreground is the star of the show but I wanted the larger sky as well as I found the cloud formations quite interesting to. I did another crop of this shot (long and skinny down to the wave on the left hand side of the frame) for a group on Facebook and it worked very well...might even post it here at some point...
@jerome Thank you very much - I love it when I'm the only one there
@dawnee Thank you very much, always appreciated
July 10th, 2016
Beautiful shot, as always.
July 10th, 2016
@domenicododaro Thank you very much :)
July 10th, 2016
I understand that you can be alone on such an adorable place with this mood. One would then be at one with the stones on the beach, the waves subsiding on the shore, the voices of the sea and listen to its breathing. One would then gather his thoughts. How often it is so that we care about something, grieves us...
Sometimes we would then be alone, sometimes we long to have someone with us on such a wonderful place...
Thank you, Graeme, for this shot!

I very much like this image - such neat composition, dof, etc etc Very nicely done indeed. Fav

the light is entrancing
July 10th, 2016
@annied That's probably better than the light exiting ;)
July 10th, 2016
@graemestevens 2 words + twat
July 10th, 2016
@annied *gasp* I'm mortified ;)
July 10th, 2016
@graemestevens Phew! I thought maybe you would be horrified
July 10th, 2016

July 10th, 2016
Wow & fav
July 10th, 2016
Stunning landscape. I love the crash of waves on the right xx
July 10th, 2016
Looks a lot like the beaches around our area in the UK.
July 10th, 2016
great capture especially like the waves coming in from the left and the light is excellent
July 10th, 2016
Interesting capture - Fav from me (Stu)
July 10th, 2016
@pasttheirprime Thank you very much :)
@theboxmanreturns Thank you very much - I wasn't sure this one was going to work so I'm a little bit chuffed
@cottiac I remember the beaches over there...when we first moved there we thought "lets go to the beach for the day"...I'm not sure if you guys know this, but you don't have a lot of sand ;)
@psychographer Thank you very much :)
@susale Thank you kindly :)
@harbie Thank you very much :)
@pinkpaintpot It's so much nicer when it's rabble-free, and thank you
July 10th, 2016
worth the permanent dent to get this one
July 10th, 2016
First of all; I smiled when I clicked on 'view album' under your name. I was very happy to see that yesterday's image was not the last, as the title implied. Secondly; you did a masterful job of arranging the light here, it is most excellent. Thirdly; do I see a whale tail near the horizon to the right of the leftmost sea stack?
July 10th, 2016
@bill_fe Thank you kind sir - the light was all my doing ;) Unfortunately, no whale tail just a wave very good at imitating things
@jocasta Thank you very much, I'm pleased you take pleasure in my dent ;)
July 11th, 2016
Great shot and yes it does look like a whale tail.
July 11th, 2016
Just so beautifully shot - whether the lighting was 'there' for you or not, it's still your shot so... Awesomeness! Despite the permanent dent yikes...
July 11th, 2016
@kerosene That dent still aches...I must be getting old. And thank you very much - always appreciated
@susiangelgirl Thank you very much - I can only say that I wish it was!
July 11th, 2016
@graemestevens Totally it - in all the beaches near us I can only think of 1 that has sand and of course it's hardly worth visiting because there are so many others with the same idea. Oh sorry I've just thought of two others. But the bulk are rocky or pebbly.
July 11th, 2016
@cottiac We went to the Witterings once. Once. ;)
July 11th, 2016
Very nice pov and great on black!
July 11th, 2016
@radiogirl Thank you very much - I quite like this one as well :)
July 11th, 2016
@graemestevens ha ha! Our nearest would be St Ives (Cornwall), Dawlish Warren (Devon) or Studland (Dorset) - meanwhile passing lots of non-sandy ones!
July 11th, 2016
Gorgeous light! Great capture!
July 11th, 2016
amazing light on the rocks, wave and in the sky!
