9pm

Word arrived last night that there was a very photogenic seal loitering at the beach, however by the time I go there he/she had departed. As a result of that, you get this shot today and I get to use the word "striations". Striations. We should use the fun words more often.
Interesting story, beautiful picture and rare word!

How inconsiderate to move

Are you posting this in color because it is Flashoffred month? It is beautiful

Nicely done Mr S! Yes there are words we should use more often - I particularly like onomatopoeic words... my favourite is probably mellifluous, but sussuration comes close.

Beautiful stretch of shoreline there. I’m sure it must have a very interesting geological history.

One can work out what that word means by the cliff structure! Glad that @vignouse commented - his words are superb!

Yep, definitely striation. Great light on them too.

@maggiemae He often waxes poetic...
@hrb73 I hope so...I want it to ;)
@vignouse You ca't beat a good susserate to start the day ;)
@joansmor I'm posting it because I spent the day edit two other shots for tomorrow...
@brigette It's just rude.
@caterina Thank you very much :)

well - that sky sure is something... and i do love those striations... but how rude of your model not to stick around for his/her photo-op!
February 3rd, 2018
Nice striations land and sky, great colors and leading lines. Too bad re the seal...come visit and I’ll share
February 3rd, 2018
The colour of the sky is stunning

@nicolecampbell Thank you very much :)
@jgpittenger Thanks very much - we usually have plenty of them but not, as a general rule, on this beach where they're easy to get at...
@northy I know, so unprofessional!
February 3rd, 2018
Great POV and composition though! Fav

@lyndamcg Thank you very much :)

Now this is how I see the world around me. The beautiful colour of the sky with a hint of pink, the moving water, the never ending beach and the different layers of colour in the "striations' and of course the birds in the sky. I guess I've said enough.

A good reminder that appearances can be misleading, and that sometimes we must look beneath the surface to find the true meaning of things.
February 3rd, 2018
Nice tones, is it still so clear at 9 p.m.?
February 3rd, 2018
very cool striations, but they are lacking black and white
February 3rd, 2018
@bill_fe They are indeed...I blame my camera
@domenicododaro It is indeed, at the moment night arrives in all it's glory at about 9.30
@sandrajo Or something like that ;)
@novab I usually see it in B&W but hey, even I need colour sometimes ;)
February 3rd, 2018
In living colors—-? Fav😍
February 3rd, 2018
Are you going to 'train' your new camera in the correct tones? I do like the striations and overall light. Fav. Sorry about the seal being shy.

@joysabin Maybe...I rather like it the way it is.
@joemuli I know, who knew that colour was thing?
February 4th, 2018
Tranquil! That's all I want to say.....
February 4th, 2018
@salza It is a bit...maybe it needs more fire ;)

Oooooo... I've been wanting to take a photo of the neat striations in one of the cuts along the highway coming into town. I just need to find an appropriate place to pull off and walk back (without getting hit) to where I can take the photo from across the road. Of course, there are undoubtedly other places in the vicinity with just as nice striations. (You're right, it's a great word. Must use it more often!)

@mcsiegle Safety first...depending on what you're doing
February 5th, 2018
they are quite lovely striations and I am fond of the blue hues too
February 5th, 2018
@annied There is that, but it definitely needs more bacon.
February 5th, 2018
@graemestevens one can never have enough bacon
February 5th, 2018
I like the colours, but, I don't understand... is the word "striations" fun? Anyway, fav.
February 5th, 2018
@spectrum Thank you very much - it just means the layers in the rocks/cliff face
