The Syrian tent villages were all along the road to Baalbek. We saw evidence of so many displaced people trying to live a normal life. The children are what drew my attention the most. This precious little girl seemed unaffected by her lot in life. Of all the children that pushed and shoved to get their pictures taken she caught my heart. In her world I am only a reflection in her eyes!
You certainly are the reflection in her eyes Katy. A photo full of joy. Children always make the best of things, and don't have a care in the world...as it should be.
@onie There is something about those kids that breaks my heart! Ruth thinks they adjust better than the adults which is probably true but I still ache for them!
Wonderful shot! I love the way your captured your reflection in her eyes. Children are amazing--they can find joy even in awful circumstances, but my heart breaks for them, too. I worry about their futures....
@eudora Thanks, Diane! I think I was touched more deeply because there was something about this particular child that reminded me of a granddaughter and that made it personal!
@kbalychev Oh, Kimberly that is so nice of you to say! I walk in the shadow of @ruthmouch who always has excellent pictures of her country and is why I so much wanted to visit there though. Of course I wanted to spend time with her more than I wanted the pictures! ;~}
Super shot!!!!! You really captured the mood of those few minutes in her faceand smile plus extremely cool double selfie...do you get extra points for that??!!!
Now this makes me cry.
How did you get the courage to travel around the world by yourself. I'm proud of you and love what you have done here.
Another fav for those eyes.
@cdonohoue Funny you should say that , Cathy because it makes me cry too and yet she was filled with so much happiness! I just wanted to see Ruth and her country! i am not sure that qualifies as courageous. thanks so much for the FAV!
