Round Bale In a Square Frame by grammyn

Round Bale In a Square Frame

I am trying a new challenge http://365project.org/discuss/general/28377/square-september of setting my camera to a 1:1picture size for the automatic square crop. I probably wont do it all month but it will be fun to try it for a change.

Love you bunches dad♥
Good job Katy- oh, you can do a month of this- go for it! I found out my Olympus can be set to 1:1 but I ran the battery down today so I won't see my pictures until it's charged up again.

How interesting, must try this.

@leananiemand I was just thinking that your picture of Vientiane would have looked good in this format, at least the little house would have but you might have lost the rest of the scenery.

@olivetreeann thanks Ann. We will see how long I can keep it up. Are you telling me your Canon can't be set to 1:1?

Looks like that hay bale has been there rather too long

Very cool shot. I really like square frame pics, but it does limit scenery sometimes. I'm eager to see how you do... splendidly is my guess!

I often crop to a square but that is different from taking it as a square. Nice job and I like your title.

I'll have to see if my camera will do that... interesting idea

I now see what the square challenge is all about! Rather nice!

@grammyn The Powershot apparently can't be set at 1:1. I looked through all the menus and didn't see anything that led me to believe I could resize the shot. But the Olympus setting was easy to find and easy to change. I really like that handy little thing!

Oh, and I haven't checked out the T3i yet, but if the Powershot doesn't I'm not expecting the T3i to do it.

@olivetreeann my PowerShot does. Push the function set button, arrow down to still image aspect ratio, and arrow right to 1:1

@grammyn So it does! I have to laugh at myself- that was the one place I did not check! And I also found it on my T3i!

@olivetreeann I thought so.

@suesouthwood I thought so too
@marilyn Aww thanks. It does but there are ways to compensate for that too
@tunia Thanks Tunia. I never use square but after this month won't be able to say that anymore!
@sonorobyn what kid of camera do you have?
@maggiemae Why thank you so much

I love the creeping ivy / vines in this shot as they grow over the hay. Lovely!

Never knew ivy would grow on hay like this! Very interesting capture!
