I found this huge bug (think the size of a pinky finger) sitting on a deck chair this morning. I decided to get a picture in case I found nothing else the rest of the day. I needn't have worried. He was still in the same spot in the late afternoon,
Do you know what his/her name is? It's a "Katydid"! Really- that's what they're called because their chirp sounds like "katydid, katydid"! There are several kinds, but this one is actually called a "True Katydid". So now when you show this picture around and someone asks, "Who took this picture?" You can say "Katydid!" Good shot!
You know I am not a fan of bugs, but I found this one quite fascinating... and even more so after finding out it's name! The details are amazing... great macro!
