My granddaughter told me she wanted me to teach her how to sew so today while she was here we whipped together this infinity scarf. She did most of the work herself with the serger and what little hand sewing that needed doing to finish it. If you look closely you will see one of the thimbles I was recently gifted from Canada on her finger. When she discovered them she fell in love with the penguin one and told me she thought penguins were her "spirit animal"
What a wonderful grandma she has! I remember my g-ma teaching is how to embroider tea towels. Sadly I don’t do anything resembling needlework as an adult. Turns out I loved being with my grandma, but didn’t love sewing. :-)
It's really special and sweet when you can pass on something you love to do to your grandchildren! It's great when a gift can be put to use right away too!
How lovely to be able to teach her to sew and also have a beautiful photo to remember it by. She is concentrating so hard. I remember my Grandma teaching me to knit originally but she was left handed and I was right so I learnt then learnt all over again before I could get any faster as it just didn't;t feel natural left handed.
@mcsiegle you are so generous in your praise MAry. I learned to knit form my grandmother and maybe to crochet too. I remember her teaching me some embroidery stitches as well @linnypinny thanks Lin I certainly hope so @wyomingsis thanks♥ @olivetreeann right on both accounts Ann thanks @summerfield so glad you saw it! http://www.spiritanimal.info/spirit-animal-quiz/ @louannwarren l hope it is a memory too @julzmaioro you must be proud of them. I know it is wonderful to share the skills @ludwigsdiana she was totally absorbed and it was great fun @gijsje thanks bep. I think knitting is a bit more complicated and takes longer to see the results @henrir you are so right Henri and the time together is the best part of it @mandygravil funny you should mention that because I am left handed and struggled with learning as well as trying to teach family while transposing the instructions @tunia how nice of you to say Tunia and I thought so too @lesip LOL! Yes it is and she sure was.
