Nov.29 Thankful For...

...my sense of hearing. When my children were babies I used to say I would rather lose my sight than my hearing because I would be able to hear them if they needed me. Hearing allows one to detect nuances of expression that are othrwise lost in the written word.

I love a good thunderstorm but thunder is impossible to photograph. I confess to artistic liberty with this shot because, although it is raining, the chances of me catching a lightning strike are extremely minimal so I borrowed one from the interenet and blended it to this shot over my neighbor's house.
Nice layering! I know what you mean about the elusive lightning strike photo. I'm doing good if I catch the sky lit up immediately after! The sense of hearing is something to be thankful for (though I know it's possible to live a full and satisfying life without that). I would hate to give up listening to music. The only time I find myself wishing I were deaf is when my conversation with Dan is limited by my non-native command of ASL.

Clever editing there. I wouldn't have known had you not said. I love a good thunder storm too.

This is a great composite. Which one of my senses would I give up? None actually.

Well done.

Well you fooled me! I thought you had captured a bolt of lightning. Great capture!

Well you certainly did a beautiful job of processing the lightening in.

You did amazingly well Katy, love your narrative too.

You have to have a 30 min exposure to get lightning strikes I've learnt! Prefer to stick my head out the window and absorb that magnificent sound!

Looks completely realistic. Indeed, they say that a deaf person can end up way more isolated than a blind person. I'm thankful ro have both (at the moment).

@mcsiegle @serendypyty @olivetreeann @dutchothotmailcom @corinnec @gijsje @ricksnap @randystreat @sdutoit @louannwarren @prn @shutterbug49 @ludwigsdiana @maggiemae @francoise @linnypinny A huge thanks to everyone for your positive comments about my edit! It is a bucket list shot for me but as Maggiemae pointed out a long exposure is required to catch a good one and my camera doesn't have that. I am so grateful that you like my narrative and thought of ways that hearing is important to you too. Thanks again
