Winding the Bobbin by grammyn

Winding the Bobbin

The title pretty much tells the story for this one. Not a very intriguing photo but a necessary part of the process.
Interesting thread. It has texture like it is twisted.

Does it hapen to you that you run out of thread on the bobbin 10 cm before the end if the last stitch?
And how satisfying is it when the thread ends when you finish sewing, and pull the piece out? Do you think about the odds of winding just the right amount of thread?

I love the red and green; it’s making me think of Christmas!

Wonderful shot and pop of colours!

Ah yes, the dreaded winding of the bobbin. I think this is my least favorite part of sewing. I try to have multiple bobbins of the same color so if I run out I can just pop another one in. Doesn't always work out though.

Used to sing a nursery rhyme "Wind the Bobbin Up" at work to mums and babies before Covid stopped public gatherings. I now have the tune as my ear worm today!!!

@30pics4jackiesdiamond I started singing the exact same nursery rhyme as soon as I saw this! Teenager learned it with the actions at "Musical Tots" when he was a baby.

I love how the red strands out against the clean white.

A lovely image, nonetheless!

You really have one awesome sewing machine but then you know how to use it too!

Great pop of color!

nicely shot Katy. You would have thought by now they could have designed it so you didn't need bobbins or it would be continuously fed more thread. But actually filling the bobbin wasn't usually the most annoying for me it was when the thread keeps breaking and had to rethread the machine - but it was actually my fault not getting the tension settings correct. Like getting the wrong exposure on a photo LOL

@eudora thanks so much Diane
@kwind how nice of you to say Kim
@monikozi unfortunately it happens too often. Very satisfying but all too rare! And, Yes, I often try to figure out just how much to wind to make that happen!
@mcsiegle LOL! I would rather the bobbins were clear but it does make it easier to tell them apart from my other machine!
@ludwigsdiana thank you so much, Diana
@madamelucy I am with you on everything you said! A new invention rto eliminate that process is necessary!
@30pics4jackiesdiamond I have never heard that song before and may go look it up! Sorry for putting it in your head!
@casablanca so it is a happy memory for you?
@scoobylou Thank you Lana I tied to use something that would show up well. Glad you approve!

@linnypinny I appreciate that Lin
@myhrhelper There are definitey some similarities between this and a camera! I like your idea of continuously fed bobbin thread. Now we need someone to invent it!
