One Chore Crossed Off the List by grammyn

One Chore Crossed Off the List

I hate balancing the checkbook (does anyone still do that besides me?) and have put it off for too long. I decided to get that off my plate tonight and since I had no picture for the day decided to kill two birds with one stone. Nothing artistic, exciting, or creative tonight , sorry.
I recognize this task. I have made a spreadsheet on the computer to do this. I wrote in a formula so that it automatically calculates the balance. Then once a week I compare it with the bank account (online). Takes just as long but far more accurate than I can do in my head or with a calculator.

I just assume that the bank has more reason to be accurate than I do and I check my receipts against the online records. (And you probably have a bit too much info shown in this picture!

I use Quicken. It really helps, but I still have to go and download transactions, import, and categorize. Still a chore. But much better if I don’t put it off. @wyomingsis I think Katy has judiciously arranged things so that the sensitive info is half covered or blurred, but it is, unfortunately something we have to think about these days.

Nope, we don't. At least you found a clever way to display what you have been doing. A great story telling shot.

I used to balance cheque books for Companies but never a personal one. Always keep a check on our bank balances though - online!

Nice still life of life.

Yes, I balance my checkbook and it usually doesn't balance. As long as the bank thinks I have more than I think I do, I let it go.

@wyomingsis Generally they are but I have found an error or two over the years. Where is the too much info ?
@theredcamera Well aren't you lucky?! I can't imagine anyone LIKING to do it
@mcsiegle Putting it off is my biggest problem thanks Mary for the support!

Only you can turn a chore into a Six Word Story! I am of a similar style to Jolene's. I check off what the bank says came in and as long as the bank says I have more than what I think I have, we're good!

Ah, I see. It's the exp date I thought was the #. WY has a weird sequence so I thought it was similar. Good for you to blur and my apologies! πŸ€—

What an interesting compilation. Very brave.... I do still use a checkbook for cash and debit purchases and of course to pay the credit card bill....I usually almost always and 99% of the time.... balance......but every now and then......
