This is the top and underbelly of one of the largest moths in North America. It was just clinging to this stick in my garden and stayed there for hours. He is about as big as my hand. I have another picture of one that I was holding somewhere in my project but for the life of me I can't find it right now.
wow! Love this... And I like seeing both sides as well. I've never seen this moth in person... what part of North America do you live in? I'd love to see one on my travels. Great details and lighting.
They are such an awesome moth! I wish I could see one now that I have these great cameras. But it's been decades since I saw one. I did see one of their caterpillars and I was hoping it would spin its cocoon and emerge where I'd be able to see it, but no such photographic luck. But at least I saw the caterpillar! Excellent collage!
What a lovely insect, I love it!! I would hug it if it weren't so fragile. Or if it were as big as me, sturdy enough that I wouldn't hurt it. Although.. maybe I would be scared then. Maybe a virtual hug is enough... :) Lovely capture!
