Sunset, Cannon Beach, OR by granagringa

Sunset, Cannon Beach, OR

The rock on the far right is a "haystack" formation...the "throat" of an ancient volcano...or so I've been told.
Just Fabulous!! FAV

Had time for only a quick fav yesterday. now i've time to actually savour this gorgeous sunset..
firstly i love the striking 3-way split..
that slight strip of reflected colour on the wave's edge is delightful - delineating land from water.. the gorgeous bands of colour in the sky are so delicious, turquoise with orange - wow! i think the clouds, without sunlight could have felt quite low and threatening.. However, lit as they are with shades of blues and red/orange they are magnificent. Love it..

@jorlam Ah, Jorlam...thank you as always for your detailed comments...as I've said you make me more conscious as a photographer to look for what works...but I am surprised you didn't mention (missed?) the small person on the far left of the frame at the water's edge...I think he adds balance to the "haystack" rock formation,

@granagringa Yes he does.. but.. there are many other things i didn't mention.. like the rocks on the sand, below the haystack.. really only visible when viewed on black. the white surround leaches colour and detail which is why i always view photos on black... the sand also has what look like footprints - certainly it is not smooth.. there's beautiful detail in the waves too.. there is so much more but i feel that i witter too much, so do not put in all that i see. i try to let you know that it is not a quick peek and gone.. i take care when viewing the work of others.. maybe more than i do with my own.. :-)

@jorlam wow, & here I thought I was just teasing you! I shall be more respectful in the future
...& again, thanks for making me more careful!

@granagringa No no no, the problem with writing is the lack of inflection to the voice.. things can be mis-construed.
i was just letting you know there is so much more in this great image than at first meets the eye.. it is only by spending time, in black, that more is revealed.. i try to keep comments short so as to not bore folk but sometimes my 'mouth' runneth over, lol..
