Leatherleaf Fern close-up

another for the current artist challenge - Karl Blossfeldt

Thanks for visiting ....I'll try to catch up with comments pretty soon!

I find it challenging to get really good focus - I was using a 50mm prime lens with extension tubes. Although the camera has a sepia tone (for jpeg image) I worked in PS with the raw image and played with b&w and then toning and then selecting the background and changing the tone of that. Quite the learning curve for me.
Excellent! Looks as close as one could get to the artist.

I like the focus on this one. Looks very Blossfeldt. Are you using a tripod when you have those tubes on?

@shutterbug49 HI, and you asked if I'd used a tripod with the extension tubes; for this image I did but I found it challenging to get good focus. I wound up off tripod to focus and then aligning the tripod where my hand held camera had been and worked from there. The DoF is so shallow with macro/extension tubes so focus becomes so precise!

top quality work

@granagringa I find that also. I need the stability of the tripod, but can get close with it or I’m kind of balancing it on one leg. Makes me appreciate the effort of others.
