Another still-life exercise for me....no food this time. Lighting was natural window light, late afternoon, cloudy day, with a reflector but I wasn't able to get the "glow" I had hoped for so I boosted the light in post. :I
Please feel free to give imput...and thanks always for viewing and commenting.
a lovely still life arrangement..
if i might be a bit picky - where is your point of focus?? everything seems to be a little soft.. hope i don't offend you..
@jorlam (continued from previous shot's comment)...this shot I did use a tripod (first time using brand-new tripod) and it's still soft. So after your comment, I checked the diopter, which hadn't been adjusted in awhile...so I think the problem is actually my vision. So thank you again for pointing this out...I need to either use my left eye or shoot while wearing glasses!
I truly appreciate your mentioning and would like to hear any suggestions you might have to improve a shot....it's the only way I will get better and more conscious of the photography. Thank you. And thank you for the "follow"...I am honored and flattered.
@lynne5477@cjphoto@bkbinthecity@30pics4jackiesdiamond Thank you all...yes, coca-cola vases and pen-holders....3 cheers for the Dollar Store! Thanks again for visiting and taking the time to comment...I thrive on your comments.
Another good arrangement. You have assumed your eyesight is a problem. Could be, but not if you are using autofocus. Its likely that your camera will assume you want the centre of your frame to be in focus, unless you have told it otherwise. You could point the centre of the frame to the part of your subject you want the best focus. Then half press the shutter button. Keeping it half pressed move the frame so its centre is on the chosen focus point.. then shoot. (Make sure you don't lift your finger before you shoot). Feel free to tell me to shut up!
@yrhenwr David, thank you so much for taking the time and thoughfulness to write all this...please don't ever shutup! One of the problems I was having was not trusting auto-focus...as it seemed so out of focus...that is the eye-sight, I've realized because my left eye seems much better. Time for optometry...But also, your advise about how to use auto-focus is very helpful. I have also been using more with the focal points I cn manually set. And thank you ...please feel invited to critique and suggest and teach.
