White tulip shot #29. although I've done some macro, I hadn't tried a wide-angle close-up before, not with tulips or, for that matter, with anything else, I started reading Bryan Peterson's "Understanding Photography Field Guide" and he extols wide-angle close-ups. So I gave it a shot and here is the result. This was done with an 18-55 mm lens set at 32 with a wide-angle filter attached.....the exif shows 32 mm.
i would never have thought of using wide angle to achieve a shallow DoF.. it is usually the telephoto lenses used for shallow DoF - so well done for your continued experimentation.. it works really well in this lovely shot.. great light and Pov..
Nicely done with the wide angle closeup!! I love the way the foreground tulip and background one helps to tell the whole story. I've never read Bryan Peterson's "Understanding Photography Field Guide" but I did read his book called "Understanding Exposure" and I absolutely loved it. Helped me understand the basics of photography in a simple way, totally recommend it! Gonna have to check this one out too!
@cjphoto Thanks, Chris...the wide angle makes the background flowers appear smaller and more distant. I like the effect. And this book has so much in it. If I ever actually finish it, I'll check out the one you recommend. Thanks.
