We took a loaf of bread to the pond. Some children helped us to feed it to the ducks. This was after I asked them not to chase the ducks with limbs or throw rocks at them. We showed them it was much more fun to feed them. We gave the bread to the parents to give to the children. The egret would not eat the bread, but used it as bait to catch fish. He would stand very still and when the fish started nibbling the bread, he would make a dive for one. He managed to catch several. The kids enjoyed feeding the ducks and watching the egret. Check out the other shot of this Egret in my Extras album.
Thank you for viewing and commenting, I appreciate it.
What an awesome photo, Linda. You sound much like me as the kids were chasing the ducks and geese and called them all ducks. I explained that some were geese. They were feeding them and mellowed out as I stood there taking photos. There were some ducks that spread their feathers and took baths in the water but I got a lot of blur and not detail like this. Also love the water. FAV
@vaugdds The camera on auto on the action / sports setting for capturing multiple shots of action, focus on the Egret and hold the button down. That is the setting I use when taking photos of birds and butterflies because you can never tell when they are going to move. The EXIF info above says that the exposure was 0.0008 sec, aperture f5.6, ISO 200 and focal length 154. Another shot of this same Egret is in my Extras album.
@darsphotos Thank you for commenting and for the fav! We thought a little positive encouragement would go farther than telling them not to tease and torment the wildlife. I think we shall continue to bring bread with us, as we usually see several meanies there.
@stacyjett@boogie@tooki Thank you for your comments. This egret has found that it is a good thing to hang around the pond when folks are either fishing or putting bread into the water. Either way, he gets his fish! He is one smart bird.

@m9f9l Thanks for the comment and fav! I liked the way the water looked also.
