Blue Heron in Winter by grannysue

Blue Heron in Winter

Spotted this Great Blue Heron in a pond. I was surprised to see it in this cold pond, with ice floating in it, but no matter how cold, they still need to eat.
Thank you for viewing and commenting, it is appreciated.
I am still unable to take photos, post or comment regularly due to health issues of myself and my husband.
Lovely to see this great photo of the heron with its frozen feet, Linda!

Such a gorgeous photo, Linda. So sorry about you and your husband. I sure hope by now you are both doing ok. You posted this on my sons 29th birthday. I am still behind on posting and commenting and trying to do what I can when I can. Getting out to the park to take photos once a week. We did not get the cold weather so many did. We are in a drought mode. We have had so little rain and need some soon. It has been in the 60's and down to the 20's for a bit and now in the 30's in the mornings. Take care and I look forward to hearing from you in the future but of course you and your husband come first. Thoughts are with you.

It has been a while since I have checked your project and felt it was time. I hope you and your husband are doing well. I am on and off here and just do what I can do. Take care.

@darsphotos Darlene, they have never really put a name to what my husband has. He is still having the problems and is now on disability. I have a few days where I feel pretty good, still having to work every day though and that takes all my energy mostly due to the horrible drive / traffic. Takes me at least an hour to hour and fifteen minutes to get to work in the morning and usually an hour and a half to two hours to get home in the evening. That puts me away from home around 13 + hours, since we get an hour for lunch. Have not had a chance to take any spring photos of wild flowers, butterflys or anything much this year. I am going to try to keep my membership going, in case things change for the better.

@grannysue I am so glad to hear from you Linda. So sorry about your husband and for what you are going through as well. I cannot imagine feeling badly, working and your commute and having to leave your husband at home for 13 plus hours a day. I hope you have someone close by to help the two of you.
I post when I can and comment as much as I can but not on a regular basis. Here in California we have been in a severe drought, had maybe 4-5 storms since last Fall. It has warmed up and into the 100's this coming Monday. I have never seen it so dry here in my life. Allergies, people sick from the dry winds we get and mountain lions and others coming from the mountains to get food and water.
Many are not members on here, though I decided to become one as Ross keeps this site a wonderful site with updates too and $19.95 is not bad if one can afford it. I would think that you could ask to reverse it to a non member or explain to him about your circumstances and ask that he keeps your photos and status on here for you when you return. Take care and thank you for your precious time. If you ever want to be in touch or have time, feel free to contact me.

@darsphotos Darlene, I signed back up for the ACE account. I never saw an email saying that mine was running out - but then, I tend not to check my gmail account very often. My husband does well enough to be by himself during the day. He has about 2 good days a week where he does not have the migraine, etc. We have not figured out why those days are different, they are never the same days of the week. I sent you a message on Facebook.

@grannysue I am glad you signed back up for the ACE account. I just did too. I got a notice that mine was coming due via email I think, may have just been on this site, not sure. Keeping track of it with all my bills so I do not miss it next year just in case. I am glad your husband is ok by himself during the day. Wow, what a way for him to live. I have a good friend with MS who had migraines for months and still gets them occasionally. They never figured out why and she saw and treated with a number of people. I will not complain about my life when others have it so much worse. It is a super frustrating problem for your husband and I know how bad migraines alone can be. I will check Facebook. A lot easier to stay in touch that way.

Did not get the message from you in my email from Facebook yet so will check later. I hope you had a good day. Take care.

@darsphotos Just checking in to see how you are doing. Hope all is going ok. Still on here and probably be for a long time to come, just not every day. Take care. Never did get the message on Facebook.

@darsphotos Sent you another Facebook message. It said it was going to your "other" message box, since I am not on your friends list. I could not figure out how to send a friend request from my tablet.

@tonygig Thank you for the comment and the Fav, I really appreciate it.
@yaorenliu Thank you for the comment. I think that the Heron are used to it. We do not have many icy or snowy days here, for which I am thankful.

@grannysue I have had that happen to a couple of other friends as well, Linda. I have had to find them instead. I wonder what other message box means. How do I look you up? I have had to do this with others and it always works ok. I look forward to connecting on Facebook. I hope you have had a great weekend. 85 yesterday and 77 here today. CA is in trouble if we get no more rain or snow.
