Fight

My heartfelt gratitude to all of those who assembled and marched today, raising your voices in unity in the defense of those who are, and those who can be, oppressed. I wish I could have joined you in body; rest assured I join you in spirit.

As someone who lives in Europe, I have an ambivalent relationship to recent and current events in the US. I mean, I have no right to express myself excessively about American policy. Also because I know that in Europe and in my country not everything is all right. There are certainly many problems.
But I have an opinion.

America is an extraordinary country. In the sound of the word "America" spreads the idea of vastness - in the landscapes, but also in the spiritual, in the possibilities to introduce ideas. This sound is hopeful and confident.
What "this man" (you know whom I mean) represents, fills me - and the majority of the Europeans - with concern. We hear a language which does not correspond to the ideas of a cultivated tone of speech. The contents are aggressive and focus on simple instincts.
I think it needs people who are capable to create stable contacts and relations, think in large contexts; who illuminate a factual situation from different sides and carefully weigh it. And I think a statesman should not split a society, but unit.

But I see there is another America. And that fills me with hope.

I like your statements.

@jerome Thank you Jerome! I spent 10.5 years in Europe and yours has been a sentiment I've learned to appreciate over the years. Sometimes it's hard to remember there is more good than bad, especially when I feel so nearly powerless to stop the bad.

Thanks, Aaron!
Difficult times are. But when was it ever easy...
My best regards to Montana! Seems to be a good place...

Genius!! If the tangerine man has done one good things it's that he's woken up women and girls. It strikes me that gender stereotyping has got worse in the last few years - girls who don't want to dress as princesses are suddenly seen as abnormal and I can't bear teenagers pouting all over Instagram - who's that for?? So I was close to tears on Saturday when my FB newsfeed was full of photos of girls (and women and men) saying enough is enough. My daughter is a 3rd Dan black belt - Donald wouldn't know what hit him if he laid his filthy hands on her!!
