My First Sweet Pea by happypat

My First Sweet Pea

I have planted just a few sweet peas this year & this is the first one to flower. I love the smell of these pretty flowers but am not very good at growing them ! I think you are supposed to pinch out the side shoots like you do with tomatoes so that you get longer stems. The white splodge you can see in the back ground is the washing line with today's B&B sheets on, I tried to edit them out but failed !!
Beautiful colour - and it's standing up so proudly. I envy you the blue sky - pouring with rain here.

I am mightily impressed! Last year I had lovely ones (like this) and for some reason this year they have hardly grown at all! Very sad - they are so pretty and lovely scent! Enjoy!

Great DOF Pat! I've tried to grow these but it never works out. I've heard they smell very nice!

Beautiful!! I must cut some of mine to keep them going. I didn't realise about the pinching out. I like the sheets in the sun - great summer shot!

This is really pretty Pat - I adore sweet peas. I grew them one year, but had not much luck either with the long stems. If I try again, must remember your advice.

Sweet, sweet peas, mine are in pots waiting to be planted out. I raised them from seeds.

Super shots - the sheets did not distract me I can see it would be a challenge to remove them. I find the content aware healing brush in photoshop CS5 can work really well but not always. Then it is a massive labour of love with no absolute guarantee of success.

Beautiful blossom against that soft blue sky! I absolutely love sweet peas, but have no luck at all growing them. As for the sheets on the line ~ what a wonderful background!
