We went to see Kate's wedding dress while we were in London on Wednesday & afterwards had tea on the balcony at the back of the Palace. It was a glorious day as you can see by the sky...too hot really to be in London but I did enjoy seeing the dress, shoes, earrings & cake. They had done a wonderful job of displaying everything & Sarah Burton described how the dress was constructed.. I was amazed how tiny the waist part was, she must only be about a UK 6 ! While I was in Buckingham Palace I was trying to get some sneaky photos to put on 365 even though no photos allowed but I got caught & was made to delete the three I had taken ! My own fault I know & I did feel mortified for a good while afterwards !!
The cafe was under the white tops you can see on the balcony & afterwards you walked through the garden out onto Grosvenor Place.
Beautiful lighting on this, Pat! Nice angle! Fun to see the "dress", I'm sure. We saw that kind of display with Diana's dress while it was on tour over here. Amazing. p.s. I had the same experience in a dept. store here while taking a pic. A clerk was on me immediately . . and was told to erase. It really is not a pleasant experience!! LOL
Sounds like a wonderful day...despite the warmth and the photo bust. I was busted the other day at an arts festival...an exhibitor apparently thought I was trying to steal her ideas and had me delete the two photos I had taken of her work. And a couple of Christmases ago I was taking shots of the decorations in a shopping center and a security guard tapped me on the shoulder shaking his head no. It is totally embarrassing!
@karenann@peggysirk It actually spoilt my day a bit as there were crowds round all looking ..my friend went on up the stairs out of the embarrassment ! Somebody said ''who's a naughty girl then!!'' My friend is not into photography & doesn't understand how obsessive us 365ers get about taking a good picture ..I think she was heartily sick of me stopping with the camera !!! I would like to go round London on my own really !!
incredible architecture and beautiful lighting on this. sounds like a fun day - except for the part about getting caught - - how mortifying! I cannot believe someone said "who's a naughtly girl, then?!" so british! love it. sorry for your embarrassment but what a great story! :)
@jmj@louisefrance It was a very beautiful place to be on that hot day...not a sound of traffic there at all, you could have been in the country! I was lucky enough to go the the classical concert for the Queens Golden Jubilee in 2002 so have been in the garden before.
That's the trouble being s convent school girl - the shame!!!! I'd be mortified but my husband wouldn't care! I bet they all thought it was hilarious as you dont look like a criminal!! Glad you got over it to take this fab pic at the back though - very splendid and I'd no idea you could do that. I want to go now but I'll have to give somebody else my camera in case temptation overcomes me!!!
@judithg The whole place was packed Judith & to see all the state rooms & fabulous Fabergé collection too !!! The strange thing about it was I can't remember hearing one foreign accent the whole time we were in the Palace...obviously the wedding has brought out all the masses !!
beautiful lighting Pat, love the narrative too, I was a bit confused at first...I thought you'd been invited to the palace, rather than being a tourist !!!
Luckily you didn't end up at the tower with ravens Pat. you naughty girl, shame you had to delete them though. sounds like you had a good day apart from that.
@samdan Well Lesley it was a good day but unfortunately I was ill on the train coming home too !! So a very eventful day & I think one I will put behind me !!
