Herb Garden. by happypat

Herb Garden.

I am not a very adventurous cook partly because Harry is a very plain eater so I have no incentive but I have been trying to use more herbs in my cooking lately.

There used to be a large area of mint in the left hand side but strangely enough it seems to have died off last winter.

This herb garden sits outside my back door.

Love your trowel and fork too - you've achieved the impossible killing mint!! It's rampant in my herb bed which is too far down the garden to be useful...

@judithg This trough has compartments in Judith & I think it just got too big & died off ! I'm not sorry because I cheat & buy mint in a bottle !!!

When you have someone who does not like to explore other tastes when it comes to food, it can be a bit challenging, but perhaps the slow approach, a little at a time will eventually get you to a new place when it comes to cooking. He may not even notice the changes

@digitalrn Your'e right Rick I don't tell him half that goes in but he doesn't like sauces or anything camouflaging the dish so I am fairly restricted !!

@judithg That's what I thought! Killing mint is really quite something! It has spread and spread in some of my garden and I have bought a new plant this year but it is in a buried pot so it doesn't get out of control!!

My herb planter looks a bit like this. I can't keep mint either - I have it growing in a strawberry planter but it's not very successful.

It's quite pretty - especially the chives (yummy in sour cream on a baked potato!)

thats the best place for herbs. Picking them constantly is the best! Did you know you can eat the flowers of the spring onion?

If you gradually add a few herbs Harry will get to like them. They look pretty and I they probably smell good too.

I gave up and buy them when I want them ow. I fill my planters with flowers now instead of herbs. nice shot of yours though.
