I walked to the village this afternoon & by the time I had chatted to a few people, been to the bakery & taken my repeat prescription in it was going dark.
Just caught this lovely sunset on my way home. Cheated a little & have just enhanced the darkness a little, not quite as dark as this!!
I think it might freeze tonight & there has been a report in an American paper that we are going to have 100 days of bitter weather with snow & frost in the UK...as bad as 1947.....lets hope it's not true!!
Fifty years ago today I remember exactly what I was doing when I heard of the assassination of John F Kennedy.
Three good things:
1. Some wonderful books recommended by other 365ers...a veritable book club!
2. A good stretch of the legs on my walk.
3. An invitation to a Burns night supper, reward for delivering the Focus magazine down our lane.
Beautiful photo. What were you doing when you heard the terrible new fifty years ago? I was working as a railroad locomotive fireman that fateful day. It is hard to believe that it is fifty years ago.
@jimmyveee It was around tea time our time & i was watching TV & they interrupted the programme to announce it. I remember carrying my eldest son who was just a very small baby & running out to the milking shed to tell Harry what had happened...unbelievable & what happened afterwards re Oswald getting shot seemed to be unreal. Then of course they got the next brother too!
I'm curious re what you were doing? I was in college and went into the TV room in my dorm to watch. What's on the 365 reading list? Nice tree skeleton and like where you placed the sun
Lovely line of cloud to see this pretty sky! I like to fiddle with the contrast too! We are getting old when we remember things as an adult, 50 years ago!
@jgpittenger I have just read a book recommended by Peggy Sirk called The Fault in our Stars by John Green...an American book & very different but I enjoyed it. Another one I have just started is called The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt...Jan told me about that one & I think Judith is reading it too.
Funny how these awful tragedies make such a mark on your mind...the same with Princess Diana dying & of course the Twin Towers.
I got half way through commenting on this last night and then got distracted. So I've come back now before I start on the second curtain... Beautiful sky and I was looking at one like this on my way to the accountant's but it lasted a really brief time so I feel like you've captured it for me.
Lovely!! I am so fond of sunsets (and sunrises) and silhouettes!! We had our first frosts a month ago!!! Tonight it is snowing and blowing Yuck. Not ready for this!!
