Going Home. by happypat

Going Home.

I looked up to see if there were a few poetry lines to go with my title & came up with a very moving sort of funeral song.
I have just heard this morning in the village that my counterpart B&B lady had died suddenly of a brain haemorrhage last week. I was so shocked as she was only 56 & a very lively lady indeed....we were always ringing & passing on to each other B&B guests. So sad to die so young.

I stalked this elderly lady up Back lane as she was going home with her shopping....I am pleased with the result.

Thank you all so much again for the concern about my knee & your continued support in all things!!

three good things:
1. My knee is so much better today.
2. The 2 litre milk carton I bought this morning leaked into a plastic lined shopping bag instead of my car.
3. Fresh Hake from the fish van for tea.
very nice shot, lovely light

Your stalking was rewarded!
If I had never met you before (I feel I really have!) I would know from this post that you are an optimist. Good your knee is recovering.

A lovely bit of contre jour as @phil-howcroft would say. Dreadful news about your B&B friend - such a sudden way to go.
December 4th, 2013
@padlock Thanks Padlock but am sure unfortunately...have a meal booked with friends now anyway...off to Dublin next week plus train fares were too dear even if booked long ago...will be thinking of you though!
December 4th, 2013
@quietpurplehaze Thank you Hazel that is a lovely thing to say & when ever I have met people off this site they turn out pretty much as you would expect them to be...I do try & look on the bright side of life!!!!!

Super shot, love the shadow complete with bag. Lovely ambiance, perfect inB&W
December 4th, 2013
Lovely shot, the things we do to get thatimage, at least the elderly lady would of been slower than the horse and rider I had to stalk a couple of weeks back.. really had to do some power walking.. So sorry to here of your fellow B&Ber. Life is so fragile, ...
December 4th, 2013
Discreet stalking resulted in a glorious capture. Love the light filtering through, very stunning. It looks like you captured a cross just above the ladies head, up in the trees. I am sorry for the unexpected loss of your friend. But, I am happy that your knee is improving. Hugs.
December 4th, 2013
Very nice reflective capture - suits the sombre message you bring perfectly.
So sad to hear about your friend, I know she would have really appreciated this tribute.

@aslessknownsu @steampowered @judithg @lucypics @julzmaioro @zenna @farmreporter

Thank you all so much for your comments & commiserations with my friend ...although she was not someone I socialised with at all really, we had lots in common & she was a fun person to chat on the phone to about B&B........she will be missed by all her guests too.
December 4th, 2013
@zenna Thanks Gayanne...the ''cross'' you can see is actually a telegraph pole & a house behind...not easy to see in that sun.
December 4th, 2013
Lovely shot. Somehow to me this represents the "going home" of your friend. Perhaps just the picture and commentary together.
December 4th, 2013
A very poignant picture. so glad to hear your knee is better today Pat
December 4th, 2013
Pat, the image is quite moving in context with your words.....contre jour always makes great shots...thanks for the mention judith @judithg :)
December 4th, 2013
Just found this --what a super image and somehow in a sad way ties in with your commentary of another person gone home .
Glad to hear your knee is better today -take care !
December 4th, 2013
Love this shot. The lighting is perfect!
December 4th, 2013
What a stunning shot! The lighting is very beautiful and I love the way it highlights the lady's halo of white hair and the track. The shadow is perfect too. In fact I love it all, apart from your sad story. We never know when our time is up, do we? A big fav and a shame we're not going to see you on Saturday.

December 4th, 2013
Lovely image - I light the halo of light. I came across a "hat" for Saturday when I was looking for something else!
December 4th, 2013
FAV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
December 5th, 2013
Wow, that is way too young, and just reinforces the truth that we never know when out time is up. Sorry to hear of your friend's passing.
December 5th, 2013
Fabulous light, edit, composition. Fav. Awful re your B and B buddy
December 5th, 2013
Well done for this photo, Pat - it meant more than just a good photo! You have the light right and making it B&W is the best - colour is not appropriate for this time. Leaking milk in the car carpets is fatal!
December 5th, 2013
your shot really goes well with your news of your friends passing. very sad. and it is a really nice shot too!
December 5th, 2013
Love your shadow on your lady.
Sorry to hear about your B&B partner. 56 is young.
December 5th, 2013
Oh, Pat, this is such a beautifully poignant photo. Such a gorgeous shot on it's own, but even more powerful combined with the news of your friend's death. I am days behind with commenting, and I feel like a cad for being late hearing the news of your knee! However, knowing that it's improving before I knew it was ailing has saved me a few days of worry about you. :) I do hope it keeps on that track and you're feeling 100% through the holidays! Take care of your sweet self!!!
December 5th, 2013
@peggysirk Oh Peggy this is why I love 365 so much..how could you not want to be a part of something that gives you the opportunity to make wonderful friends like you! Everyone is so kind & thoughtful...I feel a bit of a fraud as my knee is so much better thank goodnes..was quite worried that the old problem from last year had started again & the injections had worn off but that doesn't seem to be the case thank goodness.
I really liked this photo & knew as soon as I saw her walking into the sun that it might be a winner...loved her halo of light round her head & the big bag & walking stick.
Take care yourself too this winter & love those little children this Christmas...what fun!! Two weeks today our new little boy is due!!
December 5th, 2013
@annemary Oh you are going too Anne Mary...you will love it!!! Sorry not to get to meet you this time!

December 5th, 2013
This is a lovely shot - great light. How awful for that poor woman's family to have this happen so suddenly so close to Christmas. Glad to hear your knee's feeling better!
December 5th, 2013
Thanks, Pat - I see Saturday as part of the end to my year of addiction!
December 5th, 2013
Oh wow! This is fantastic, Pat! Wonderful sunbursts and I totally love the halo of hair. Fantastic detail.
So shocking about the other B&B lady. That IS young! Oh dear!
December 5th, 2013
Your stalking paid off with this lovely shot! :)
December 5th, 2013
Very lovely, poignant photo.
December 5th, 2013
Beautifully shot - a sensitive and respectful tribute to your friend.A fav.
December 6th, 2013
This is a stunning shot Pat and a fav. I love the light and dark. It has a touch of Lowry to it. What a shock about your friend, how very sad. I love a piece of Hake, better than Cod or Haddock I think. Pan fried in a bit of butter with some lemon juice and capers, a bit of Tenderstem Broccoli, some wilted spinach and some Hollandaise. One of my fave teas!!
December 6th, 2013
Lovely light, great shadows and title. Love it! Fav!
December 6th, 2013
@seanoneill We love Hake the best too, a meaty sort of fish if that makes sense...your way sounds delicious!!
December 6th, 2013
...such a gorgeous shot...the composition is perfect, and the high contrast creates a very solemn atmosphere...you have used the available sunlight to perfection! Fav
December 7th, 2013
@ericdibosco Thank you so much Eric..your comments are very welcome!
December 7th, 2013
the sun rays really complete this shot. wonderful
December 7th, 2013
Great photo - sad story.
The things we take for granted day by day and too often we just expect things to stay as they are.
We love fish for tea! Indeed Allan is cooking some as I catch up on here. A fancy new recipe for sea bream that he bought from our fish van in the square this morning. Sometimes we are not there early enough to get the full selection!!

I rather like that this tells a story, one of endurance and keeping steady on your feet.

Endurance is nobler than strength, and patience than beauty. - John Ruskin
