This is our window cleaner Paul, he cleans all the windows down the lane.
A very obliging chap who trims our ivy every year when it's in danger of swamping the roof.
He was here yesterday giving them their Christmas clean.
A nasty cold wind today which has taken us by surprise....I can't remember the last time there was even a breeze..very unpleasant with flurries of snow too.
We should have been to our village Christmas Fair but had unexpected visitors so missed Father Christmas riding into town on his sleigh. I feel guilty now we didn't support but you can't go out just as people arrive!
Three good things:
1. The papers have loads of Christmas book lists......so many books & so little time!
2. The Christmas tree is still upright!
3. Lovely to see one of my childhood friends this afternoon & catch up.
A great smile from him. Still bucket and cloth I see. Our window cleaner now has spray water and brush and no ladder! I think hands on gets them cleaner.
@jennywren Paul used to be employed by another guy but bought the round off him.....he used to use the long brush then but now he's on his own he does it the old fashioned way....might go back to the brush when he can afford perhaps! You can see he has a scraper in his other hand.
Oh I wish I had a 'Paul'.. one of the 'to do' jobs over the next couple of weeks.. shame about missing Santa on his sleigh.. Ha.. just seen where @snaphappi wants your 'Paul' as well you could send him over here and he could see the country doing NZ 365ers windows....
@snaphappi@julzmaioro I will tell him he has a queue waiting for his window cleaning skills......I'm sure if you both paid his fare he would be over like a shot.. Do you have window cleaners in NZ or is it one of those jobs because you mostly have single story you are expected to do it yourself
@happypat There is a company called 'Hire a Hubby'.. who do these sort of jobs but have always done ours myself... one of those jobs that is real easy to put off till tomorrow...
What a happy chappie -- well worth paying to have your windows cleaned if only for that smile ! I must admit my window cleaner is a lovely chappie as well - but he has gone over to using the long handled water brush technique !I never think it is as good as the ladder and cloth -- but then I could not managed them !
Can you send him to me - the sun shone on mine today and I wondered what he does- can't change him as he's an institution but we get what we pay for which, to be fair, isn't much!
Our window cleaner is so busy you have to wait about a month before he can do yours! So I end up doing it. I spray diluted dish wash liquid on to the window then hose it off and it works reasonable well but there are still some droplet marks left. It's nearly Tuesday!
@judithg we pay Paul £10 Judith & that's for nine windows...he charges next door the same for seven. He comes once a month....when the sun shines on mine I could cringe sometimes!
Oh well mine's £11! Quite a lot of high ladders but I offer to pay extra for him to wipe the sills and he never does - the frames are shocking! Might go up there myself if Nigel will hold the ladder.
He has got more of a smile on his face than David has when he is cleaning windows. David has just done our windows ready for Christmas. Not a job he enjoys because our windows are huge and they include three glass sliding doors and windows.
