Boxing Day walk by happypat

Boxing Day walk

All our family that live in the UK ....the other half in NZ.....taken on our Boxing Day walk.

A lovely afternoon eating a very nice buffet & opening more presents.

Three good things:
1. I wore a dress today but when I saw myself in my skirt and wellies in this picture I looked decidedly frumpy so I suggested to Jack that some skinny jeans would look better. For a joke he photoshopped Alex's legs on to me but now I rather prefer the edited shot... the wonders of the modern world!
2. Alex & Lydia both made delicious puddings.
3. Cathy bought me a travel book on New York.
I have also just finished reading the novel called New York which @judithg recommended.....loved it....I am going to be a fountain of knowledge before we go in March!
a happy family shot pat, a nice bit of 'photo shopping' by Jack (although now you've told us I can see the edit). A nice collection of coats :)

@phil_howcroft oh dear I wish I hadnt told you now Phil....too clever by half!

@happypat i think it was the wonky wellies pat. If only jack could make your legs as energetic as alex's

Such a lovely photo, would never have noticed the photoshoped legs if you hadn't pointed them out.

@phil_howcroft to be honest the wellies are mine & they are a bit baggy! ...just imagine a skirt over those & you can se why I wanted them changing!

I wonder how it feels to have someone else's legs on! Good for you wearing a dress - I wore a skirt as it was so hot here. Great line-up! Who is the guy on your left?

@maggiemae that is Garth our dear son in law.
Jack, Harry, Me, Garth, Alex, Cathy & Lydia.

A very fun family! Have you ever been to New York before?
December 26th, 2014
@cejaanderson no I haven't Jane....looking forward to,it tremendously! I am sure the four days will go by far too fast! The book is very interesting, so many familiar names that I can't wait to see! Which two places would be the top ones to see for a visitor do you think?

Fabulous shot and especially the legs hee hee!

Wonderful group shot! I've had the laziest boxing day ever. It's 3:43pm and I'm still in my PJs. We laid in bed and watched TV for hours. I finally got up and vacuumed the crumbs from the big gathering last night!

@happypat Can't keep it to two, Pat! I would suggest a Broadway musical extravaganza (you can see a plain play anywhere, but the set and costumes of Broadway--wow!). Go at night and you can also see Times Square lit up--2 for one evening! You could see all this in one day: Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and Ground Zero (which is in the area of Wall Street). I would allow at least 1/2 day for Central Park. So even though I said more than one thing, I've only said 1 1/2 days worth of things, so that's close to 2 things, right?

A wonderful shot of the family on Boxing day -- keep looking at your legs Pat ,and wishing I could have another pair of legs !!

What a fun family photo. the wonders of Photoshop.

Lovely family shot - clever Jack - your legs look great!!!! So nice that you could all be together having fun.

Ha ha, nice legs! Lovely portrait.

Excellent legs!! And different boots so we can't tell! Glad you liked the book - you should definitely try and get to the Tenement Museum - you select a tour based on a type of immigrant - Italian, Irish, Eastern European and you get shown round the tenement by a descendent and told the stories through the building. It's a bit expensive but having read the book really interesting - you can book online in advance (we turned up on the day & were lucky though for two of us but could have got behind a few school trips!). And if not there then Ellis Island was well worth it - great boat trip apart from anything else! I think we did both on the same day and then reverted to art galleries for Adam! Walking the HiLine was good as well but mostly for the greenery. And we went up The Rockefeller Tower early on the first day when we were jetlagged & waking early - no queues or crowds!

@cejaanderson thank you Jane ......i think all those things would be on our lists so good to have you say so....we are going at night to try for a show so hope to seeTimes Square all lit up. So excited now...the book Cathy bought me is great complete with map so can see all the places I read about in the book. Thanks for your help.

@judithg thank you Judith...the book was fascinating, I had no idea that the Dutch people were the first to develop New York.....easy to read I was sorry to get to the end! Your choices will be written down on the list of things to do......you pretty much echo Jane's choices too so definitely a must. I think I must get a spare camera battery!

December 27th, 2014
Great legs pat.. have to learn that trick... neat family shot...
December 28th, 2014
Are you Irish-Catholic? If so, then I would add St. Patrick's Cathedral to your NYC list.
December 29th, 2014
Not the Irish bit but the other yes.....I had thought of going in there ....a very large church I believe!

Lovely family shot. Some judicious photoshopping is an increasingly appealing idea given my overindulgence this season...

How exciting to be going to New York. I'd love to visit.
December 30th, 2014
Great shot. I am jealous of your NY trip but you will have a great time. Take plenty of memory cards and batteries!
