Overtime

It's just pouring with rain today so no chance of the departing B&B's bed linen drying outside. I have the drier on but the Aga is doing its bit too.
Doubling up cooking too as I am making twice the amount of oat biscuits this afternoon, I have moved the sheets off the front rail!!

I bought a nice Christmassy tin & am filling it with biscuits for a couple who have everything.

Three good things:
1. A lovely card & delightful tree decoration all the way from Taupo from my friend @andreajoy
2. Not sure wether it's a good or bad thing but a large Aldi store opened in Garstang today. I'm sure our lovely local Booths store thinks it's a bad thing as its slap next door to them!
3. Syrup in sneezy bottles, so much easier to fill a serving spoon than when it's in a tin!
4. I have posted every parcel to NZ this morning!!
It's awful isn't it Pat? Supposed to be nicer tomorrow morning, they look like very cosy chairs!

@countrylassie the one on the right was my fiftieth wedding anniversary present from Harry Lesley, other one that Harry sits in was a jumble sale buy & is not fit to be seen under the rug! We sit in these chairs all the time when we're in & then decamp to the sitting room in the evening.

Well you have been luckier than us as we have had no rain! It has been really grey though the wind has dried the washing.
We find lots of bargains in Aldi.

Oh it is s pain when you can't get the washing dried outside. Hardley used the drier at all this year., though did look a bit like a chinese laundry at times

So cosy Pat in spite of all the washing draped around the Aga , Rain here too with plenty of water coming down from the Welsh hills with the Severn bursting its banks -- Flood barriers up in Shrewsbury and Ironbridge but luckily for us in Wellington we are not in the vicinity of the Severn !
Had a very lazy day pleurisy pains still in my back but Alfie pleased to be able to lie on my lap mort of the afternoon ! Must get into the mood for Christmas !

@julzmaioro This definitely looks Chinese Laundry! I have got them all dry so success. I hardly ever put the drier on only to fluff up towels!

@quietpurplehaze yes I am expecting some bargIns HZel & I will go in but I am a Booths lover so will stay loyal mostly....I think!! Booths supply the free car park for Garstang & the Aldi sign is looming over the whole car park,I bet Booths are spitting feathers!

@beryl Stay warm inside I mighty glad you aren't in danger of flooding. Will be worrying around Tewksbury I would think. Flooded fields Ll round us here but we are up on the highest point in the Fylde so if we get flooded the whole plain of the Fylde below us will be under water. Sorry about your pains this weather won't be doing it any good at all....all the damp atmosphere. Alfie will be a happy boy!

One thing I don't like about this time of year, is having to hang washing in my living room, to dry. Unfortunately there's no where else to put it. Daren't use the tumble dryer too often or I get complaints about the electricity bill!
December 3rd, 2015
Thanks for worrying about Tewkesbury but we're still OK at the moment. However the rivers are rising and the sheep have been moved off the water meadows. Never a good sign. love your picture but the ironing worries me!!

See - even your laundry looks attractive in your kitchen! I think Booths will be able to keep Alsi at bay - I can't cope with the queues in ours. Sneezy syrup sounds fun!

@carolmw Yes I too hate washing hanging about but I have tha advantage of it soon drying as its so hot on there.....all put away ready fir ironing? @thistle I have a iron press Joyce so not as bad as you think! I have it down to a find art now & sit there watching Escape to the Country & similar! Glad things aren't too bad in your area.....I remember the horrors last time. Water is a terrible thing when it goes where it shouldn't!

@judithg Oops Judith a spelling slip! I must admit it's so warm in the kitchen you don't get that steamy damp smell when the washing is drying. In the last farm I had one of those pulley racks which was brilliant but the ceiling is too low in this kitchen. I hope There is room for both supermarkets, there is a Sainsburys & a Co-op too, I think the Co-Op will suffer the most. We'll be OK as long as Lidl doesn't arrive! That will be too many although all the housing that's going up,we will need every one!

If it's like ours people will travel quite a way to get to it so it may be good for the town

December 3rd, 2015
@newbank No doubt one will be coming near you soon!
December 3rd, 2015
Its all very well drying stuff like this but it always has to be ironed! I expect you iron it anyway. Don't know where you find the time to do all this baking and entertaining B&B's! ps.... whats a 'sneezy' bottle?
December 3rd, 2015
Oh, I see from above - @judithg ;'s comment that it is a typo! Should it be 'sleezy' or - I know - squeezy!
December 3rd, 2015
@happypat

It's so hard for old established shops to be 'upstaged' by modern discount supermarkets - but we are all looking to get the best value.

@maggiemae Squeezy bottle maggiemae!
December 3rd, 2015
I can't imagine having it in me to run a B and B and you do so much else as well
December 4th, 2015
Very cosy and love to see the washing airing over the stove.
December 4th, 2015
This scene brought back memories. I remember the days when I used to have to dry the laundry on radiators etc in the UK. Luckily now even in the middle of winter we can get the washing dry outside.
December 4th, 2015
We have haven't had rain here today, I really miss my Aga , but here we have the boiler up stairs in the airing room which wonderful for getting the washing dry . Your kitchen looks so cosy
December 4th, 2015
I love these kind of shots Pat. Love Aldi too!

The image made my eyes open in curiosity but your narrative explains it all. Sounds like a time for making improvisations to adjust!
