This lovely converted water mill was one of the houses my son Anthony developed before he moved to New Zealand.
He always wanted to farm but as we already had our eldest son at home working Ant had to go out & get a job.
He did do farming at one time working as a cowman on a local farm then he tried his hand at building for a local farmer who turned into a builder but his heart wasn't in it.
He always worked really hard in everything he put his mind to & seemed to end up running each job he did.
In the end the best move was to NZ with his then girlfriend, now wife.
This mill is just down the road from us & we pass it most days.
Loved the light here on my walk.
Out with our old neighbours to the local seafood restaurant tonight so commenting will be erratic.
Three good things:
1. Lydia has had her tonsils out today. No news yet but hopefully all will be well & she will have much better health.
2. I read yesterday that ten minutes skipping is the equivalent to a seven mile walk. I skipped for five minutes after lunch, it was hard work but I somehow doubt it was the same as a three & a half mile walk.
3. Looking forward to eating out tonight,
@newbank Thank you Ruth, skipping is not easy but have discovered it's all in the timing when you jump! I was breathless at the end but haven't akways time for a walk. You can't take photos whilst skipping though!
Lovely capture and shows the field flooding from all our rain. Great reflections in the water but I must admit I'm not sure I would want to live that close to the river.
@ladymagpie@beryl The length of water on the right is the stream which is normally quite narrow except at times like this. It's a tidal stream as it feeds into the River Wyre out to the Fleetwood estuary. The stream is the duck race stream I have featured before.
Lovely shot must of been a bit of a worry for the residents with all that rain around them. Building is a great craft for a farmer to know along with being a plumber, and a mechanic, and an engineer.
These old Mills are very popular as dwellings once they are updated! Looks as if it doesn't get flooded as well! Your comment about skipping makes me determined to use the rope that I have had out for that very purpose for over a year!
Lovely shot and interesting story. I think I would be a bit worried if I owned that house, so easy for the flood waters to take it away.
Think I'll give the skipping a miss, too hard on the knees these days.
This is so beautiful, Pat. Such a peaceful and scenic spot. The sound from that stream right outside the door must be delightful (when not flooding),
Your Anthony is a man of many talents. That converted water mill is a charming home.
Good thoughts to Lydia as she recuperates from her tonsillectomy!
@peggysirk Thank you Peggy, they called in briefly on their way home from the hospital last night....Lydia was pale but fine. Had to eat two pieces of toast before they let her out!
Lovely shot Pat still too much water around.. Skipping! Now there's an idea the only trouble is it wouldn't exercise the dogs but I think I might try. I used to be good at it but that was many, many years ago!
Beautiful. .....it's amazing how water levels find normal after the extremes.
Love your skipping tip.....must have a go when I can't do my jog to papershop.
Hope Lydia soon feeling comfortable.
Enjoy your meal and I hope Lydia is ok :)
