Preston Railway Station by happypat

Preston Railway Station

When I took Jill to the train station yesterday I stood on the bridge over the lines & remembered that as a child I stood in the same spot & watched & smelt the smoke as it puffed out of the steam train engulfing the whole station.
They are working on platform 4 which is the main station for the West coast line from north to south.

Three good things:
1. I have defrosted the deep freeze & made more space.
2. Thick rubber gloves to keep hands warm.
3. The end at last of the US election race!
Awesome B&W shot with great leading lines that seem to go on forever!
It's A FAV!

This could be Newcastle's station! They are all so similar. Great b&w with all the lines. Defrosting the freezer is on my to-do list too!

Great shot Pat. Lots of detail. Now I feel I really have to defrost the deep freeze! I fear we will have a long period of analysing the US election results!

A lovely shot and great to be able to reminisce the good old steam trains , smoke , smuts and all !! You have done one job that is a must here -- my freezer is in dire need of a defrost once I feel well enough after this cold !! and in preparation for the Christmas goodies !! Gary has some sort of a horror film on TV I suppose no worse than the endless American Election analysis on every channel -- At least it will be over with by the end of the night - !!!!

I was going to put up a shot of our vintage train station last night but the golden evening light pipped it at the post .. so maybe later. The freezer job is one I need to get on to as well.. and as for the US election I think the shouting will still be going on after.

Thank you all for your enthusiasm & faves!!
As fir the freezer I couldn't shut the lid so something had to be done! Also we have family coming from NZ on Friday so need to get the food job sorted!

Great in B&W!

This looks huge and with a roof like this one, all will be dry all the time! I don't have one of those chest deep freezers any more so no diving into freezing bottom!
November 8th, 2016
@maggiemae I got rid of mine once a few years ago but the drawers kept sticking on the upright one so eventually went back to a small chest one. It's a nightmare routing to the bottom!

Nostalgia! Can't beat it! This looks lovely in black and white. I'm wondering if the wind whistles through this station like it does in so many up this way!!
