The main high street in my home town of Preston.
Now a city it's the first time I have been in the city for months!
Had to go into pick up a present I had ordered & I had forgotten how much bigger & better than Blackpool it was.
I should not have gone in M&S food hall when I was hungry!
It does look quiet this afternoon but more people in the shops. I don't actually agree with shopping on a Sunday, not for religious reasons as such but I love the break in the week which should be a rest day from the hustle & bustle of busy lives.
I am like all others when it's convenient I ignore my principles!
Looking east towards the Parish church.
Three good things:
1. Blackpool Tower Ballroom looking fabulous as usual on Strictly! One of my old dancing places in my youth!
2. The little Christmas trees above the shops in the village are all shining brightly!
3. Free box of chocolates if you spent above £20 in Thorntons chocolates.
Good to see no vehicles down this cobbled lane. You have so many places to shop around you! Now how big is that free box of chocolates - 2 inches square?
What a lovely looking city , with its wide cobbled street - looks so clean and civilised there !! I also do not like shopping on a Sunday -- (a day of rest ) after saying that I often go to a Garden Centre for a look around -- but somehow I do not regard that as shopping !!
Lovely warm glow in the sunlight. I agree about needing that gentle break to breathe and be and just not be another frantic day. And time at church to remember whose we are is good when we can do that. Rest is so important and we neglect it too often! Hope you had a gentle day .
@maggiemae b no big Maggie, well it looks big but probably has about ten chicks in it! This Main Street is pedestrianised! The odd vehicle comes diwn but not a main thoroughfare.
@sarah19 I knew you would agree with me Sallie, we all need that end & start of a week I think. I do think the Sunday shop is not as popular as it was.
@onewing I think you would find it bigger Babs but in general I don't think it's changed much, the university is very big now & dominates the Friagate area.
What a nice shot of Preston City Centre Pat - it really has improved over the past ten years. Have you visited at night when they have the trees lit with lovely twinkly lights - and not just for Xmas! Fav for your shot
Looks a lovely street ... great colour and light...I try to avoid the shops on Sundays as well .. but @dide and I made up for it today ... we may not be allowed out together again..
A lovely looking place to go shopping. @julzmaioro I think Julz may be allowed out, but I certainly won't be going near any clothing shops for some time….
@dide I'm on your side Dianne, I love buying clothes! @julzmaioro I thought you were buying Christmas presents....I was very restrained yesterday, I looked but that's all! I think at the change of a new season the new stuff in the shops tempts you so much although I am a winter clothes lover, not that much call for hot weather wear here!
