Cinema day today. We went to see The Greatest Showman.
Good if you like a musical type film but it wasn't the best we have enjoyed.
Didn't help that it's half term & our usual personal space in the cinema was invaded by mums & small kids. Why the mums thought a film like that was suitable for three & four year olds I have no idea. It must have been the word circus that confused them but although the kids were exceptionally well behaved more than half of it would have gone over their heads.
The place was littered with popcorn, crisps & empty juice cups.
Dot I gave have got used to just us in there, back row, feel up & our picnic lunch!
Only joking really!
You can just see Blackpool Tower in the far distance just to the left of those two lamp posts on the right.
Three good things:
1. Someone to help open the doors at the cinema, they are so heavy & it was so windy we couldn't get inside!
2. They have dropped all prices to £4.50 across the board for all cinema seats indefinitely.
3. So much lighter at nights.
Beautiful image. Love the sun on the water. My best friend growing up was born in Blackpool. Her mother was widowed during WWII and then remarried, an American stationed in England.
I saw the shorts of that one and thought I would give it a miss.. yeah it's s pain when other people want to go to the movies at the same time as you lol... at least the sun shining...
@sarah19@julzmaioro I only realised that the musical Barnum was the same only the stage version. I had several recommendations to go & we did enjoy it but we like a proper story better with no singing! To be honest we hadn't any choice this week unless you wanted to see a children's film.
Odd light standards! The sun was right in your eyes for this picture but no sun spots - well done! The sea and sand look beautiful glistening there! Surely there were some circus scenes in this film!
@maggiemae Only in the singing bits, it was very charismatic but mostly about the early days of Barnum circus & how it started as a museum of weird & odd ball people!
Not many people about. Can I have sixpence please. When we were kids Mum used to take us to Blackpool and the first person to spot Blackpool Tower was given sixpence.
@phil_howcroft Thanks Phil, this was the quickest photo ever! It was so cold & windy I just put the iPhone up & snapped wildly! Had to straighten it as it was very haphazard, the sun was very bright & I note your wise comments!
