Mobile banking

We are quite lucky with banks in Garstang. I know there are so many small towns & communities with out any banking facilities these days.
It's so detrimental to local businesses & trade.
The banks try & kid us into thinking that most people want to bank online when nothing is further from the truth. We are being forced into traveling longer & longer distances to do everyday banking.

We have The Royal Bank of Scotland, Nat West, Barclays & Nationwide.
A few months ago this Lloyds Bank mobile appeared in the square. At first they had no customers but they persevered & when I walked past this afternoon they had a queue!

Our lovely Booths shop which is apparently still Booths, I told you wrong info a week or so ago.....all false news!

Three good things:
1. Blood tests done this morning.
2. Three new library books. I had to be shown how to use the return machine as I had forgotten. Must try & use the library more often, my kindle is costing me a fortune! Kindle books are sometimes more expensive than proper books these days....what happened to the advantage of a kindle book? At least with a proper book you have something in your hands to keep. I still love the convenience of my kindle though.
3. No wind today!
Agree about kindle Pat. they used to be much cheaper. nothing quite like a real book though! We are quite well off for banks here although mine has just gone down to a four day week.

Our local banks have gradually disappeared. Although I do my banking online, I need a bank to pay cash into, so have to go into town.

So good to hear you got it wrong and you still have your Booths ! Hope your blood test will be ok - i ha a blood test on Monday had a letter today from the Dr;s to ask me go for a repeat -so I have booked it for next tues and to phone 10 days later for the results ! (It does worry one when you do not know why !!) A choice of Banks ! two or three have closed down in Wellington - I used to be with Nat west - but as I would now travel to Telford for the branch there I have swopped to Halifax which is in Wellington ( and have recently refurbished the building - so hopefully they will stay for the time being !! I much prefer seeing a face to on line !!

@beryl we used to be with HSBC but they closed the Garstang one, then the Kirkham one & then the Poulton le Fylde one, the nearest is now Clevelys. We are still with them for main account but I have moved mine to Nationwide & I find them fantastic, open every day & Saturday morning too! We need local banks! We go,in the one in Preston with its help yourself machines & bank staff hanging around to,help. If you want a proper counter you have to go up escalators & right at the back in the corner are three counter positions with proper people....you have to queue to put cash in & do ordinary banking.

We have several banks here but actually do our banking online completely! Once you have figured it out, it is so easy! I think they are filming a new promotion for Lloyds Bank over here on the beaches using black horses. Its going to be amazing!

Haven't seen a mobile bank before - a good solution for towns where banks have closed down.

#3 People should visit libraries more often, I think. Many libraries here have to reduce their book collections and opening hours...

Great capture and title.

What a good idea - I've never heard of this before

Fascinating to read about towns without banks. That would be a sure way to discourage businesses!

a valuable service for sure Pat

So sad that your banks are reduced to a mobile bank. I'd be lost if our bank closed.

I still prefer real books and have never used Kindle yet.

While I prefer real banks and real tellers, I do a lot of online banking for convenience.
What is security like at this mobile bank? It looks as if it would be easy to rob.
