I got quite alarmed this morning when I saw a black cloud over Garstang! I thought oh no it's going to rain!
Of course no rain arrived & we are about to go into hose pipe ban territory.
Dithered about buying another pair of smart sandals this morning but decided I would see how things are in another two weeks, might be pouring down by then!
Three good things:
1. Never seen so many pairs of shorts this morning, even most men are wearing them this year.
2. I must have parked under a Sycamore tree as I have several nasty resin spots on my car bonnet. I am gradually getting them off with hot soap & water but it's a slow job.
3. Second exciting week of Wimbledon.
Love your hydrangea - mine will not flower this year as it had gone out of hand and I gave it a hard pruning in Spring - hopefully it will have forgiven me by next year !!! Love that gorgeous pot you have there ! Got rather dark and thundery here too early afternoon -- but no rain -- the clouds have but by now have disappeared and its hot sun again ! Horrible when you have sycamore sap on the car good luck in getting it off !
@beryl Thank you Beryl. Must nit take any credit as this is a very new plant only bought last year to go in my birthday present tub Ant & Jo & boys bought me while they were here last year. It's wintered well & is looking splendid. The sticky resin is a nightmare, have got half off but still plenty if rubbing to do. Someone said hand sanitizer so am going to try that on one of the spots soon, very carefully!!
@quietpurplehaze Yes I have pretty much decided too but I'm going to Ireland in August & thought if it's hot my old everyday ones would be a bit shabby.....we shall see what the weather brings!
An interesting find: Step 1: What You Will Need. WD-40. 1 wet and 1 dry old rags or paper towels. ...
Step 2: Spray WD-40 on Sap. Spray just enough on to cover the sap. ...
Step 3: Rub the Sap Off. Get a rag or paper towel a little wet then rub vigorously agains the surface of the car until it all comes loose or dissolves.
Love the flower pot and hydrangeas are so good in them - given me an idea!
@maggiemae Thank you Maggie. It's weird as the spots, there are about ten of them different sizes, were sticky when I first saw them. I was washing the car which was very dusty & noticed these whiteish marks. I thought they were bird muck & only noticed they were still there after the car had dried. They were sticky too, have washed bonnet with a microfibres cloth & hot water & soap. Still there but better, put on WD40 which made it look better but still marked. The marks aren't as rough but I do think that the baking hot sun this morning in Garstang has seriously added the worst damage. I really have a feeling that it's damaged the paintwork. Going to car care shop tomorrow for their opinion as what to do next. Will keep informed!
I could do with few more summery tops..but not going get any,cos i know it will change then..yes lots shorts and on most men too.getting the old legs brown
@brennieb Yes I hate buying summer stuff, never get the wear out of them normally but this year has been different! Old legs, yes saw plenty of them this morning!
A lovely summery scene. Hope you get the stains off your car. We sometimes get gum tree stains on our cars and I use sugar soap and hot water or shampoo to get rid of them. Not sure if it would work on sycamore stains though.
Lovely hydrangea Pat and a great pot. We're not threatened with a ban yet but asked to be careful. I've compromised by only using the hosepipe on alternate days. My argument is that I'm using 50% less water.
yes, I got excited first thing when I saw black clouds here and only 16 degrees.......it all came to nothing and it is back to hot, blue sky, dry and sunny again now.
.
We had some rain here today, only 18/19C. Another cool day tomorrow, but later on high temperatures again...
Step 2: Spray WD-40 on Sap. Spray just enough on to cover the sap. ...
Step 3: Rub the Sap Off. Get a rag or paper towel a little wet then rub vigorously agains the surface of the car until it all comes loose or dissolves.
